Could be too much washing powder, excess washing powder holds water in the clothes and makes the load too heavy to spin.
Try washing a load with NO washing powder (if this is the case there will probably be enough residual powder to wash the clothes anyway).
Follow the correct amount of powder/liquid, more is not better, just wears out your machine.

Even if you use liquid detergent, if you put too many clothes in the washer, or too much detergent. It has happened to me before.

Don't put the powder in the tray. Select you wash cycle, let the water run into the washing machine, then add the powder.The powder should dissolve before you put your clothes inside the machine. Let the washing machine fill up to almost half way and add clothes. This should stop the clothes from getting the residue powder on it.
