Remove the filter / bag from the compartment, close the cover and briefly turn on the vacuum - is there suction? If so, check that the bag isn't already full / or replace with a new bag. Make sure it the bag is not being pinched / caught under the cover.

If no suction, look closely at the edge of the filter / bag compartment opening of the vacuum. There should be a gasket that the cover presses against to help ensure a good seal. If this gasket is missing, cut, has an object lodged on it or is otherwise damaged - it may be preventing proper sealing of the door; allowing air to be pulled through the gap in the seal - and responsible for the loss of suction at the hose.

I have a Dyson dc21 ... it has low suction... never happened before approx 4 years old

try completely cleaning it out and clean the filter or get a new one. sometimes when my vaccuum has low suction theres dirt clogged in the hose or the vaccuum itself. try cleaning it out and if that doesnt work try and see if the settings are messed with (if there are different settings of course)

Not picking stuff up and no suction in hose as well, suction sounds good until you go to vaccuum floor

Because this unit is bagless there are more gaskets to seal the suction portion of the vac. you are most likely missing a seal, can you remove the basket and place your hand near the suction on the vacuum? it is shielded so you wont lose fingers. if there is suction there, look at the bottom of the basket for a gasket, same for the top

No blockage, but no suction and food disaappeared?

Make sure the bagless canister is snug in place. This will affect the suction also.

Hose is not getting any suction

when vacuums shut off randomly it usually means they are overheating. this can be caused by a clog somewhere in the line of suction, or, perhaps due to a very dirty filter - either way, the motor is working hard and getting too hot.

try removing all the various tubes and parts along the suction route and checking for clogs (a flashlight might help too). also, have you rinsed out your two pre-filters lately as recommended in the Dyson manual? it might help.

No Suction

Your Power head is blocked with hair or dirt,,or the hose which connects the Upright with the power head is blocked.
Try taking a steel coat hanger apart (straighten it out) and then push it into the pickup hose to remove blockage.

Power head on epic 6500 does not work, is there a belt?

This is a bot of a blind guess, I don't know the model. But most power head cleaners I have worked on use the suction of the vaccuum to spin a turbo fan in the head (like blowing a child's windmill). The head not spinning is usually because there's not enough **** to spin the turbo fan. Check for:
Gummed up brush bearings (dirt or damp) making the brush harder to turn than it should be.
Poor suction caused by a blocked or partially blocked pipe.
An obstruction that is tactchin the beater or the turbo fan.
Blocked filters on the cleaner, reducing the **** and thereby not providing enough vaccuum to spin the beater.

Suction problem

The valve on the bottom of the water bucket is not being pushed up enough to allow the vaccuum to go through. Perhaps a part is missing but I used a small ball bearing and a car vaccuum cap to build it up and now our works but it is still a piece of ****. I hope this helps

Today lemonaide is made of artificial flavors and furnature polish is made of real lemons.
Believe me that alot of stuff now is **** and you will find that out. I have to fix most stuff that comes right out of the box before we can use it. If I cannot I take the darn thing back. Welcome to the real world of the industry standards that have no ethics anymore.

Bissell Model 3593-2 Upright purchased 3 years ago not drawing up dirt as it use to

Check where there is suction...is there good suction at the hose...at the back of the vacuum. Knowing where there is good suction will help you know where there might be a clog or any resistance. Bissell also has a fairly good customer support line...I believe the phone number might be on the vaccuum possibly in the back.
