The first thing that I would advise you to do is,

Uninstall the WiFi Adapter totally from the System first,

Then go to "scan for hardware changes",

This will bring up a prompt to install the new hardware found (Which is your Wifi Adapter).

After this, Press your Wifi button on the system and ensure that it is On, then Scan for wireless networks.

It should connect like that.

(In case you dont know how to uninstall the Adapter, Right-Click on my computer Icon, Properties, Device Manager, then select the Adapter under network adapters, and right click on it, then select uninstall.)

make sure that you have the wifi switch toggled o. and then look in your taskbar for a wifi connectivity symbol and when u doubleclick on it it will ask you what conncetion you want to connect to. click on the connection u want to connect to and (if it has a password and you know it) key it in.
