Don't touch the blade by hand use a pair of pliers. There should be a screw in the center of the handle, just remove it and you will see how to remove the blade.https://youtu.be/pFnbiw88Z8c

SOURCE: fat max laser is in inches need feet

Press and hold the "+ - units" button and hold for over one second. It should then let you select your units of measure. In this case it should be the second selection, which is "0.00 ft". If you lost your owners manual, you can download one at www.engineersupply.com/Manual-and-Help-Docs/Stanley-TLM100-Manuals.pdf. If you find this helpful, please rank the solution.

SOURCE: Just purchased a Stanley FatMax 10-778 retractable

1. Make sure the side lock is unlocked.
2. Push the thumb tab all the way to the front of the blade handle.
3. Insert the blade in the opening, you may notice two notches on the top side of the blade.
4. Press the small blade release button as you slide the blade into the knife. You may have to jiggle up and down to get the two notches on the blade fully into the handle.

If properly inserted, the exposed area of the blade should look very close to an equilateral triangle.

make sure both notches of the blade are inside the handle. They notch into the thumb lever.

good luck

The manual is available at the Stanley support site: http://server.iad.liveperson.net/hc/s-44183334/cmd/kbresource/kb-5162309471456573043/view_document!PAGETYPE?sq=FatMax%2b77-189&sc=2&sf=101113&sg=1&st=405165&documentid=342296&action=view . If you have problems with those links, start at: http://server.iad.liveperson.net/hc/s-44183334/cmd/kbresource/kb-6221370935515628266/front_page!PAGETYPE?category=2 . Enter 77-189 in the search box and then click on the link.

I hope this helps.

Have a Stanley Fat MAx utility knife and unable to open it to load the blade

there is a little black button on the end where the blade comes out. With the blade in the out position, push in the button and pull out the blade. With button pushed insert new blade or turn the old one around to use the other end.let go of the button and you are ready to go.

Can't reload utillity knife fat max10-778

Hi Mark,

I have several of them. Are you having trouble getting the handle to open up?

I have found that the blade needs to be all the way in to open it. Also, to get the blade holder to sit right.

If this is not the problem, please reply back. Thanks,

How do you put blades in stanley fat max extreme razor knife

Not sure exactly because I don't own one, but the review seems to indicate you push the blade positioner all the way forward, and push a release to remove the old one out the front, and then push a new own in until it clicks in place. With the blade positioner all the way forward.
But the review said it did not work well.

I can't open or refill the fat max. Lost the instructions.

If it is a 10-816 then Knife swivels open for easy blade change and clean out - no tools required, much like 10-999
If it is a 10-778, you don't really open it. You press little button on left side, behind the blade wiper, and this releases blade. Push red button on rear of knife, to open blade storage
if it is a 10-999 then press the button on rear and rotate the two halves.

I unscrewed Stanley 10-379 Interlock retractable knife and now I don't know how to put back the gizmo that fell out or the three blades that came with it.

Google: how to change blade in Stanley 10-379 utility knife. Stanley website shows how knife & blade look on the outside. Put it together so it looks like that. Sorry, but ain't don't know how to send the picture to you.
