Laserjet 1320 shows undocumented light pattern, won't respond

When I power up the printer it doesn't go into its initialisation routine - the toner light is off, the attention light in on, and the ready & go lights are flashing. The printer will not respond to any buttons being pushed.

My error code is not in the manual and Hp wants money to tell me that I probably need a new printer.
Does anyone know when the amber warning light comes on steady and both the green start push button and the green ready light blinks together. When I turn on the power, and stays that way.
    Thanks for any info, CrazyLou

I have the same problem - and have no idea what to do. My printer is sitting in the cupboard.

I have the same problem. The printer was working fine the the toner light came on and the go and ready light started blinking. I have tried the same things but nothing is working.

I have the same issue and light pattern. If I open/close the cover, the engine runs. I open the left side cover and pressed the little button for the Engine Test and it printed a test page with lines.

    Any suggestions?

Hp laserjet 1320 problem

This is an error state that is not described at HP site.

Try to do a hard reset:

1) Turn off the printer

2) Press and hold down the green GO button

3) Turn the printer on and continue to hold the green GO button for at least 5 seconds, but not longer than 15 seconds. During the process, the Attention LED will turn on.

4) Release the GO button.NOTE: If both the Attention light and the Ready LEDs turn on before the GO button is released, the cold reset procedure must be started over at step 1.

5) The printer LEDs begin cycling. The cold reset process runs until completion and the printer returns to the Ready state.

Hope it will help you
