What is wrong with my Fisher and Paykell Aquasmart washing machine? It shows fault message 235. What action is required?

Going by your post your have an AquaSmart machine
Here are some details to resize an AquaSmart machine

The main board is displaying the wrong error
for the problem your machine has.
Fault 49 is water valves error.
The most common problem with AquaSmart is pump faulty
and damaged your motor control board,
Pump and motor control board need replacing.

250. (11111010) SmartPump Loss Of Sync
This fault is normally as a result of the pump not starting. This fault is usually caused by an
object that has gotten into the pump, and is either under or on top of the impeller, which is
causing the motor to stall when it is trying to start.
Primary Source: Pump Stator Windings Open Circuit.
Action: Measure the resistances of the pump stator. For more information
refer to the AquaSmart service manual.
Secondary Source: Pump System.
Action: Follow procedures as for Fault Code 249.
Tertiary Source: Motor Control Module.
Action: Replace Motor Control Module.

Fault code 49 is water valves, But the Aqua-Smart board is outputting the wrong code here, The Smart pump has blown the water valves fuse, A common thing in Aqua-Smart Machines.
The Smart pump has jammed with lint and caused over current to the board and taken out parts on the board that drive the pump.
Best to get a new/recondition board for your machine.

Try cleaning the INLET and the outlet valves, it is possible that the filters are blocked. If not check the wiring harness from the panel, check for moisture within the panel, if so use a dryer to warm off and test. Please estimate before any parts are replaced.

In AquaSmart machines the pump over-currents and blows the water valves fuse, Motor controller board and pump needs replacing.
49. (00110001) Cold Valve or Cold Valve & Hot Valve Faulty
The Motor Control Module has measured a voltage from the valve diagnostic circuit that
indicates the cold valve or both the cold and hot valve is faulty. The most likely cause is
that the valve harness has not been connected correctly or the valve(s) is open circuit.
Primary Source: Wiring.
Action: Check the valve harnesses are correctly fastened to the valves and
the motor control module or the pins are not bent backwards.
Secondary Source: Water Valves.
Action: Measure the resistance of the cold and hot valve coils.
Tertiary Source: Motor Control module.
Action: Replace the Motor Control module.

Hi just read your posting.Now with the error code you have shown it tells me you have an out of balance fault.To find out if the fault is with the out of balance switch or the motor controller you will need an electrical test meter. the reason for this is to test the switch for conductivity,not to test for power or anything dangerous.Have you or can you borrow an electrical test meter to test the switch?please reply and I can guide you throe the repair of this fault.
