I scratched up my flashlight to figure out how to open and get into a "Battery Lock" style light to replace batteries. Take two pliers, pinch one on the middle section & the other at the tip. Torque hard left as if you are "locking the battery" as advertised. Once it passes a certain area, the tip will come out. Very poor design. Coleman should have made grooves so pliers can easily grip instead of scratching the heck out of the aluminum. Now mine is ugly and could scratch my hand. Even used a towel to grip but still damaged light. Have to now sand down the damaged parts. Not very smart designers. I am Asian, pretty sure this was made in China.

please attempt to twist the top or the bottom of the flashlight off in order to open it and the batteries that you've mentioned. Otherwise, you can drop buy your local geeksquad/bestbuy to have a tech do the battery replacement for you.
I found that bashing it with a hammer numerous times helps to alleviate some of the frustration plus what does it hurt? Not like the damn thing was working anyway
To my knowledge this item has been discontinued by Coleman and is no longer available. However, I've listed basic instructions on changing batteries. Here's a link that you could watch for the disassembly for your flashlight type.
Locate the battery compartment on the Coleman CT 50 flashlight. This is usually at one end of the flashlight and is secured with a cap or cover.
Depending on the design, unscrew the cap or remove the cover to access the battery compartment. Some flashlights may have a twist-off cap, while others may have a sliding cover or other mechanisms.
If there are existing batteries in the compartment, carefully remove them. Pay attention to the orientation of the batteries, noting the positive (+) and negative (-) ends.
Insert new batteries into the compartment, ensuring they are placed in the correct orientation. Match the positive and negative ends with the markings inside the battery compartment.
Once the new batteries are in place, securely put back the cap or cover. If it's a screw-on cap, tighten it until it's snug. If it's a sliding cover, ensure it clicks into place.
Turn on the flashlight to check if the new batteries are working correctly. If the flashlight doesn't turn on, double-check the battery orientation and make sure the connections are clean.
If the old batteries are disposable, make sure to recycle them properly. Many communities have specific recycling programs for batteries.
Always refer to the user manual or any included instructions for your specific flashlight model, as the steps may vary. If you don't have the manual, you can often find it on the manufacturer's website or contact Coleman's customer support for assistance. Additionally, be mindful of the type and size of batteries recommended for the flashlight to ensure optimal performance.

Really? Put the flashlight down and slowly step away from it and if that doesn't work threaten it with a hammer?
Seriously did you read the package directions? The pointy end with the gray ring is the end most likely screws off to put the AA batteries in.
You need to specify the model of the flashlight. However, for most of them you simply unscrew the bulb head or the battery end cap, empty the old batteries and insert the new ones with the positive end of the batteries always pointing toward the bulb end and the negative end of the batteries toward the spring in the end cap.. Be sure to discard the batteries properly. Contact your local trash disposal company to determine where and how to dispose of them.

1. Rotate body of headlamp until lights are pointing down and battery cover tab is to the front. 2. Insert edge of buckle on headband or a coin under tab and twist to unlock and remove battery cover. 3. Install 3 "AAA" cell batteries in the correct orientation as shown on the battery housing. Make certain all 3 batteries are installed correctly. 4. Replace battery cover by first inserting the tabs on the back of the battery cover under the back edge of the battery housing, and then rotate down until battery cover snaps into locked position.
