SOURCE: my HP officejet Pro L7580 says the printhead has a problem

Re-insert the print cartridges. It is also possible that the heads are burnt. Get a new set of print heads (black/yellow) and install to the printer. If problem persists, clean the contacts on the printers. Use acetone + cotton swabs.

SOURCE: how do i clean the printheads on a hp officejet

hp printers have a utility program that cleans and purges the printer heads. Go to HP on your startup menu and look through the options....mine is located in the "hp solutions center".

It has an option for purging the printer heads.

SOURCE: Printhead Problem:

Have you tried to replace the black/yellow printhead? This is not the same as the ink cartridges, but it is located in the compartment under and to the right of the scanner lid.
Here is HP's link.

SOURCE: HP Officejet Pro K550 - Printhead Error Message on

I have the same problem. I replaced both printhead cartidges. The MC light stopped blinking, but the KY light kept blinking. I thought it was a faulty new KY ink cartridge. So I returned that cartridge and got a new one. Still the same issue. I called hp and they said the print head is bad now and all they focused on was trying to sell me a new printer. UG! I also heard wiping off the printhead with a dry cloth may help. Did you get yours to wokr?

HP 6600 printer. showing missing or incorrectly installed printhead . Have removed ,flushed and cleaned and refitted 4 times .problem persists.

If you have done all this, reset electronics to factory defaults, reinstalled software , and the device still does the same then you might be in need of printhead. Not good.

Hi Ed Walsh,

When you say feeder tray, are you speaking of the document feeder tray, or the paper input tray? The document feeder tray is not customer replaceable so it will not be removable. The input paper tray is however removable. Perhaps you will find the support page for your Officejet 6600 helpful:

PRINTER PRINT BLANK PAPER

Have you tried putting the machine through a cleaning cycle. There should be a maintenence section on the printer and also on yoour computer. Also if you removed the cartridges and left the printheads exposed for any length of time they have dried out and are clogged. Try removing the heads and cleaning them with a damp lent free cloth.
