NEW TANKS ARE NOT RECOGNIZED AND PRINTER REFUSES TO USE BLACK TANK
I am assuming this has occurred because you have either refilled an original cartridge or bought after market cartridges that Canon does not recognize. Manufacturers don't like us doing that - after all, they sell us the printers at a loss and expect to get their money back with all the overpriced ink we will have to buy later on. That said, I was able to find this info on another site. I don't guarantee it will work. Read carefully, there are a few warnings in the procedure. Use at your own risk.
Try this:
1. Turn off the printer
2. Hold the Resume Button (red circle in the triangle), add a printer (click "Power") an indicator light green.
3. Hold the Power Button, release the Resume Button.
4. Not releasing the Power Button, double click "Resume" and release Both Buttons.
5. Click "Resume" for Four times
6. Once you click "Power", to confirm the selected action (reset counter absorber). To disable the printer "Power" button to click again.
If that doesn't work, then try changing the printer setup as below.
Case 1) When the window of "Ink is running low" appears.
- Click the 'OK' or 'out of paper' button on your printer
- When the window of 'Ink has run out' appears, follow the procedures
'Case 2' below.
Case 2) When the window of "Ink has run out" appears.
- Click the 'Yes' button on the window.
- When the massage of "Press and hold the 'Stop/ Reset' button...."
appears, press and hold the 'Stop/ Reset' or 'out of paper' button
on your printer for 10 seconds.
Before using the printer, run the "head cleaning" process.
?? Warning: The level warning system of the refilled cartridge will be
deactivated permanently. Refill the cartridge only when the print quality
begins to deteriorate and the cartridge is actually out of ink.
