Goes off about 3 seconds after starting. Turned upside down and it ran without turning off. Already checked for blockages

As you might be aware the blinking LED indicates that a fault has been detected.

 

Check that the ionizing wires supports have not started to 'track' this will appear as a hair-like discolouration across the supports surface. The 'track' may be very thin and hard to spot.

 

This can be caused by dirt that has started to burn into the surface by arcing.

 

If you find any 'tracks' then try to clean them off with a mild solvent like pure alchohol.

 

Another thing to try is to run the unit in total darkness and look into the grills to see if there is any arcing or sparking happening.

Check to see if you turned on the water to allow water to flow again if thats not it check to see if you put the fillter in the correct way you may have put in upside down. Good luck

Check that there are no fine pieces of lint that are bridging the plates or the ionizing wires, to ground.

Check the contact points of the collector cell and inside the unit.

The light is caused by a shorted collector cell and associated components.

I have exact same problem cleaned it but LED light remains on.

While the device is turned off and the filter is out, tip the unit itself upside down and back. Do this several times, there is a slider type cleaner inside that moves as you turn the unit. Be sure to do this every time you clean your filter and you will never hear a peep out of the thing.

1. Unplug the unit
2. Turn the unit upside down and listen for the beeds to move along the static wires from top to bottom. Turn it upside down again and again until you feel the static wires are cleaned of grime.
3. Plug it in again and see if the hissing is gone.

After cleaning the unit, replace the grid into the unit. Hold upside down for at least 30 seconds to reset.

In addition to cleaning the plates on the cartridge, also turn the unit upside down then right side up a few times. There are 2 small wires inside the housing, and each has a ceramic ball on it that cleans the wire when the unit is inverted. Also, look through the vents to make sure the wires are not broken. If they are intact, they run in a straight line, almost the entire length of the unit.

If this does not help or the wire is broken, contact The Sharper Image. I believe this unit has a 5 year warranty. When mine failed, they exchanged it for free, even without a receipt.

Take it back. Hopefully it is inder warranty. I have had 2 units do the same.
