There may well be a driver update available. Check on the website for the manufacturer.

I was using it on microsoft 8 with an Photoshop 13. Upgraded Microsoft 10 and the 4850 does not work. The message I get is no WIA device is located is there something I can do to get it working?

If you upgraded your operating system from Windows 8 to Windows 10 and are experiencing issues with your HP 4850 scanner, specifically receiving a "no WIA device is located" message, here are a few steps you can try to resolve the problem:
1. Check Scanner Compatibility: Ensure that the HP 4850 scanner is compatible with Windows 10. Visit the official HP website and search for the scanner model to find compatibility information and any available drivers or software updates specifically designed for Windows 10.
2. Update Drivers: Download and install the latest drivers for the HP 4850 scanner compatible with Windows 10 from the HP website. Make sure to select the correct drivers for your specific scanner model and the version of Windows 10 you are using.
3. Uninstall and Reinstall Software: Completely uninstall the existing HP scanning software from your computer. Go to the Control Panel, locate the scanner software, and uninstall it. Afterward, restart your computer and reinstall the latest version of the software provided by HP for Windows 10.
4. Run Hardware Troubleshooter: Windows 10 has a built-in hardware troubleshooter that can automatically detect and fix common issues. Open the Windows Settings, go to "Update & Security," select "Troubleshoot," and then choose "Hardware and Devices." Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter and see if it resolves the problem.
5. Check WIA Service: Verify that the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service is running on your computer. Press Win + R on your keyboard, type "services.msc," and press Enter. In the Services window, locate the "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)" service, right-click on it, select "Properties," set the startup type to "Automatic," and click "Start" to initiate the service if it's not already running.
6. Try Compatibility Mode: Right-click on the scanner software executable file or shortcut, select "Properties," go to the "Compatibility" tab, and check the option to run the program in compatibility mode. Choose the previous Windows version (Windows 8) and apply the settings. Then, try running the software again and check if the scanner is recognized.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's recommended to contact HP's customer support or visit their website for further assistance. They will have specific knowledge and resources to address any compatibility or functionality problems with your HP 4850 scanner on Windows 10.

Is the Pandigital SCN02 Photolink One-Touch Scanner compatible with Windows 8?

Are you using it currentrly? What is your current Operating System? I've been searching and can't see anywhate a windows 8 driver for this scanner.
Bu let me tell you, I'm using currently a Genius ColorPage, originally released for windows 98. Installed windows 2000 driver in compatibility mode for findows XP. There is no driver for Windows XP nor for Windows 7 and coldn't make it work in Windows 7. So I run it on a computer with dual bootWindows XP / Windows 7.
When I need to scan, I simply start up as windows XP. When finished scanning, reboot to windows 7
I Have Windows 7 on a 2 Tb HD SATA and Windows XP on 200 Mb IDE. Is more economical to have a dual boot then buy a new Scanner.
If your scanner won't run on windows 8, install on another HD or a partiton, Windows 7. doual boot Windows 7 / 8 work like a dream.

CanoScan 8000F Installation for Windows 8.1

Unfortunately, the Canon 8000F is not compatible with Windows 8.1. You can find this at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/CompatCenter/ProductViewerWithDefaultFilters?TempOsid=Windows%208.1&Locale=en-us&Architecture=X64&TextSearch=CanoScan%2B8000F&Type=Both&CurrentPage=0&TotalPages=1&ShowCriteria=0&SortCriteria=Relevance&Compatibility=Unknown&LastRequested=14. Canon choose not to write a Windows 8 or 8.1 driver for this scanner. The changes between Windows 7 and 8 mean that the old driver won't work. The compatibility mode doesn't help in this case.

You have two choices: The cheapest option (if you buy a used machine): You can get a second computer with Windows 7 or an older version of Windows installed that does support the Canon 8000F. Alternatively, with a computer with more than 4GB of memory and a CPU that supports can support a virtual OS to buy 1) an upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro and 2) a Windows 7 license and DVD. (This will cost at around $200 for Windows 7 Home Premium and the upgrade.) Then you can add the Hyper V feature and install Windows 7 as a virtual OS with at least 2 GB of your memory assigned to virtual OS. Install the scanner in that virtual computer.

I hope this helps.

Scanner doesnt have a driver for windows 7

This may help. Depending on your version of windows 7 you may be able to run Windows XP as a virtual machine and still user your scanner under XP Mode. You will have to install the XP driver for your scanner on the XP virtual machine running on your Windows 7 computer.

Windows 7 has several built-in tools to help with program compatibility and Windows XP programs should be installed directly on Windows 7. Windows XP Mode runs many older Windows XP productivity programs and that are not natively compatible with Windows 7, thus helping realize cost savings and reduce possible operational downtime by extending the life of existing software.

Installing PrintMaster 18 on any computer requires .NET Framework 1.1 to be installed on the hard drive. If NET Framework 1.1 is not installed, it will be installed from thePrintMaster 18 install disk before PrintMaster 18 is installed. If possible download .NET framework 1.1 If .NET Framework 1.1 is not already installed on the computer, the "Program Compatibility Assistant" in Windows 7 will display this message. To continue with the installation, select "Run Program".

I bought a new computer with Windows 7. Is Printmaster 18 compatible? I have started to install it but a message came up stating there were 'compatibility issues' Is this correct and if so, what can I do?

This should answer your question

I understand that you are inquiring if Printmaster 18 is compatible with Windows 7. Our developers have tested every aspect of Printmaster 18 to see if it will function properly on Windows 7. It has passed all tests except one, which is the Save As PDF feature. Our developers just became aware of this and are working on a resolution to make it work on the Windows 7 operating system. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused, but we can assure you that we will provide a fix for this as soon as possible.

This usually happen with an old printer and new computer with new OS.
You can try downloading your new driver for Vista at Lexmark website here:

http://www.lexmark.com/lexmark/sequentialem/home/0,6959,204816596_652569478_0_en,00.html

If doesn't work, ask to customer service for assistance

But at this point:

1) is better to get a new printer compatible with Vista

or

2) Downgrade your OS to one compatible with your printer.
