HELLO...I HAVE A MICROTEK ARTIXSCAN 1800F SCANNER THAT I PAID OVER $1200. FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO. USED ONLY 16 TIMES OR SO. THE BULB BLEW OUT FOR SOME REASON AND CANNOT BE CHANGED BY HAND, THE COMPANY TELLS...

I'm sure the lamp replacement is not a difficult task but finding the lamp itself could be a problem since even the manufacturers are not very helpful.
Did you ask them if they carry the lamp?

The lamp on my Canon MP600 scanner/copier has stoped working, I assume the lamp has blown. How do I change it?

It may be difficult obtaining a bulb, but you can remove the glass cover and remove the bulb. Go to a place where they service Canon copiers and see if they can get one for you. However it may not be cost effective, considering the cost of printers these days.

What will I do if my copier's bulb (light) is not functioning?

You will have to replace it. You should make sure the copier is unplugged because there is line voltage on the lamp. Remove the glass and move the scanner to the right a bit. You remove the black lamp shield. One or two screws, I can't remember. At the rear of the lamp you should see a spring that needs to be removed. This keeps the lamp in place. Get the correct lamp, and reverse the procedure. Test to make sure the lamp comes on before replacing the shiled and the glass. Some times the from spring lead doesn't make good contact and you have to try again. Be sure to uplugg the copier if you have to work with the lamp. Sometime the foil that powers the lamp or the connections go bad. Good Luck

Scanner bulb warnning

Hello,

The 'scanner warming up' error is caused by dirty scanner optics. What happens is the scanner initializes the lamp and starts reading the scanner pickup waiting for the light to get to a certain brightness level. When the optics get dirty from dust or smoke then the light getting to the scanner pickup is reduced so the unit thinks the scanner bulb has not reached the correct brightness so it says wait. What you will need to do is dis-assemble the top portion and clean the scanner optics. We have a step by step guide to do this procedure posted on our web site at: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/hp-laserjet-3330-scanner-warming-up-error/ This should get you back going again.

I hope this helps you out, if so please rate our solution.

Not working, says: scanner bulb warming up. I

One needs patience as the warmup takes a few minutes sometimes. This is to allow the lamp phosphor to stabilize.

No letters come out or pictures

It quite simple to verify if the lamp is out. Just leave the the cover open and then switch the scanner on. The lamp should light up as the scanner initializes. Note if the full length of the lamp lights up. If it lights up only partially, then the lamp needs to be replaced. I doubt if the lamp is the problem though.

It is quite simple to get to the lamp but, you do need to be a little tech-savvy and own a soldering iron. Disconnedt the mains from the scanner. Turn over the scanner; the top is secured to the bottom by two recessed clips at the front button; release them with a screw-driver. Unsolder the two ends of the lamp. A new lamp can be purchased at a shop that sells computer spare parts. It's similar to the lamps that are used as back-lights in LCD screens. They come in different lengths so make sure you get one of similar length and solder it back in place.

Scanner light stays on

I have the same problem. I chatted with HP customer care for an hour but it can't be fixed. The only thing you can do now is set the power saver mode to 2 hours, so bulb will turn off in 2 hours. Only way to minimum power consume.

Can't find replacement lamp for Scanmaker 6400XL

JKL Components was able to create a new bulb for me for Microtek 9800 XL with Transparency Adapter. If you have a different model might need to send the bulb so they can see if it needs to be modified. Worked perfectly. Call Larry: 818-896-0019 ext 124. Very nice, and very helpful
