I opened up the case and it was very dusty. I blew on it for about 40 minutes and it worked!

SOURCE: Kenwood Amp blinking Standby indicator light

Hi fuxsiloh.

It sounds like you have eliminated all the things that could generate this symptom that are external to the amp. It is most likely that there is an internal problem that is causing the amp to go to protection mode. A power supply failure(maybe a fuse) is the only really user serviceable part inside the amp. Perhaps check for failed fuses, replacing any that may have blown with exactly the same type. BE SURE TO UNPLUG AT THE WALL FIRST:)

Is the amp still under warranty? If so, then returning it to a Kenwood service center is the shot. If you want to have a go at repairing it, I can talk you through it, but some experience with this sort of thing is very necessary. Good luck

regards
Graeme

SOURCE: I have a Kenwood KR-V7030

Hi,

Since it was just recently installed, would it be safe to assume that it is fairly new? If yes, perhaps your best bet would be to return to dealer/manufacturer for repairs/replacement. It is highly probable that the unit has sustained major hardware fault at least on the right channel. Even if it were just a fuse, it would still be to your advantage going that route.

Should for some reason you would venture a DIY, diagnosis and repairs of course would require fair familiarity with electronic components and circuitry, use of a VM and a soldering iron and preferable access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: Kenwood Receiver KR-a5020 receiver won't come out of standby

The unit is in what is commonly known as "protect" mode. This means that a problem has been detected in the final output stage of the amp and the outputs are shutdown to prevent further damage to either the receiver or speakers. This should not be a difficult repair for a service shop. Expect a parts cost in the $25-$40 range. Add in the local labor rate for the total repair cost.

SOURCE: My Kenwood KR-V5570 receiver powers

i had exact problem.
the bare wire speaker cables that connect via a clip connecor in back of the receiver are pushed too far in. something inside is shorting out with the speaker cables. solve this issue by either tightly twistng or soldering the wire ends ( then clip the ends about 1/4 inch long). watch out for the same issue of electrical shorts at the speaker end of the cables.

KR-V6050 I cannot get audio to work on radio, video or any other setting. Also the red standby light stays on all the time, even when the power switch is turned off. Alan

Check the input / output connections are in the correct places. The red standby will stay on when the unit is off showing that it is ready for use. To confirm, turn the power off at the wall. The red light should go out after a few seconds.

Marantz SR 3001 won't turn on

Check for shorted speaker wires - if none found, disconnect speaker / select headphones and see if you hear music thru the headphones. If not - you may have burnt out power transistors, etc.

Sony HCD LX20i audio shelf sysyem won't turn on. Standby light flashing. Disc stuck in it.

Check the speaker wires for shorts, if okay! suspect the audio output ic's, the protection circuit won't come out of standby because there is a short.

After turning ON the power/standby switch, the unit(receiver) display comes ON (green light) then after approx.4-5 seconds the display goes OFF and the unit defaults back to the standby mode (red light). I...

Is the red light flashing at first?
The unit may be going into protect mode. Lets hope it has done the job and the receiver has protected itself from failure.
Protect mode can result from speaker wires touching each other or the Amps2_bing.gif metal case. Check that first.
It can also be caused by unstable ohm loads if too many speakers2_bing.gif are connected to any of the outputs especially zone 2.
If you can remove all speaker wires and turn the unit back on. If it stays on, turn the volume down on the main zone and zone 2 if connected. Then reconnect speaker wires.

No sound coming out of speakers when turned on

If you get absolutely no sound, not even a pop when changing the standby switch, this probably means the rectifier OR the switch has failed. The red light just means power is getting to the power transformer... probably fuse is OK.
