What browser are you using? Typically, when viewing a Netflix title, there should be a little full screen button on the bottom right corner that you can click on to take it full screen.

It sounds like you might be in the PIP mode. check your remote for the PIP (Picture in Picture) and go hit it several times the picture should move around on the screen one of them should be the OFF.

I think it is the XBOX360 red screen of death, as told on wikipedia, the lights are in different positions but the lights are red. Given picture below:
