The voicemail system is not answering. Often on Toshiba systems the voicemail is a seperate PC based unit. Try locating voicemail and check for power or reboot. If this is a PC based voicemail, a common failure is the voiceboards in the PC that allow calls to be answered by the voicemail. If you detrermine that voicemail is running but just not answering, a bad voice board is the likely cause.
This happens to me A LOT. It seems to help to delete voicemail messages when I have more than 3 signal bars. To get rid of the Icon you have to leave a voicemail on your phone, use someone elses phone and just leave a message, it should vibrate like it has a new voicemail but the count shouldn't go up, then just delete the message when you have close to full bars. I have voicemail through my telephone company. Recently my SAMSUNG SGH-D980 phone system has been answering the calls for voicemail, instead of going to my phone company voicemail. I am being left messages that I cannot retrieve! I would like to "turn off" the voicemail function of my phone system. I'm not sure why the phone changed from working "properly" to now picking up voicemail calls. Thank you for any help you can give me!
There is no option in the phone that will allow you to set the amount of rings before it will go to voicemail. If you want it to go directly to your voicemail you can always turn off the phone or ignore the call. This would take them directly to voicemail.
Go to Main menu, then "Messaging". Within Messaging go down to "Message Settings". #3 is voicemail. click voicemail and you will be able to edit the number.
