Template for installing the microwave measures 16 3/16 from the underside of the cabinet to the bottom where the bracket is mounted. I taped the template up, drilled the holes and mounted the bracket. When I put the microwave on the bracket there isn't enough room vertically to swing it up and bolt to the cabinet above. The back of the microwave measures 17" from where the bracket fits in at the bottom to the top of the unit.
You missed something while reading the installation directions but that won't fix it. since you already drilled holes in the wall lower the mount down as needed then drill new holes in the mount to match the holes you drilled in the wall. The problem would have been worse if you were off left or right... up and down is easier. Remember you maybe just not dropping the microwave low enough to fit in the slot at the bottom of the wall mount before you tilt the micro up.. check it one more time...including the directions before you re-drill

the paper template that they send to mark for mounting instructions? yes...another template you're refering to?
