My tv has sound on some channels when the show is on, but no sound on other channels when show is on. However, there is always sound when commercials come on. How to I get sound all the time.

I have already tried unplugging my tv and unplugging my cable. As far as I can tell the channels that are not working are E and NBC There is no SAP on my TV either. To show, what i think, is audio I use a button "MTS". When I push this it only displays "mono".

SOURCE: proscan tv surround sound hook up

This depends on whether you have digital cable box or not. If you have a Digi Cable Box look for the red/white RCA output and connect this via RCA cable to the Red/White Audio input on your surround.

If just Basic Cable look for a red/white audio output on the back of your televison. connect this to the Red/white in on your surround. Could be called tv in or auxillary.

SOURCE: Poor sound quality

Hi, I sent an email regarding the issue to OnCorpus (the company who makes ProScan)

This is what I got back:

---------------------------
Thomas,
Follow these steps to correct humming issue:
1. Turn tv on
2. Input mode should be tv
3. Turn volume to zero
4. With remote enter 9 8 7 6
5. A menu will appear on left side
6. Arrow down to backlight and with right arrow key move number from 81 to 83, press menu button twice,
7. Turn up volume and listen if hum is gone.

I can't confirm if this works at this moment since I don't have access to my TV.

SOURCE: What connection do I use for audio out from my

It varies from one device to another, however the most common are RCA cables and optic fiber. You need to check which your device uses.

SOURCE: what channel is the tv needed to be on to get

Most cable TV systems that use a set top box or converter output on channel 3 or channel 4.

If you have HD cable service however, you probably watch on one of the A/V or HDMI inputs (Video 1, Video 2, etc.). Simply press the Video or A/V input selector, slowly & repeatedly until a picture & sound is seen and heard.

My sony str dh710 broadcasts sound from tv shows andsome commercials. But sone commercials have no sound. Why?

if your saying that overall the sound works just fine but just some commercials don't have sound , this surely is a cause that not all commercials have Dolby decodable sound , this receiver has a dolby decoder inside it , im betting that you use the dolby sound selection most often , a simple test of theory is to select 2 channel stereo sound in set up and watch same commercials if you got sound now there's your problem , I do ask that you not complain to broadcasters of this (they might fix this) as id rather enjoy missing the entire commercial but no sound would be a viable alternative

I have a sony trintitron model kv20fs12 that i just bought used.A few of the channels have audio only during commercials. When the show comes on it has no sound. One channel has background noise such as...

Check your TV's audio settings and make sure it's not set for SAP (second audio program). You'll probably find it's turned on. On many channels or programs you won't notice anything since the broadcast doesn't include a SAP signal. But if the signal's there, the set switches to that sound channel and you have the trouble you describe.

The problem you might run into is that you often need the original remote to control the audio settings. I don't remember for sure if your Sony model has front-panel menu control. I believe that series does, though. (The remotes included with most TV sets usually have a single button to control SAP, which is often how the settings get changed in the first place. Someone hits the button and doesn't know it.)

Hope this takes of your mystery sound! Thanks for using Fixya.

Low volume on some channels

Well, some TV stations do broadcast at different volume levels. This is very noticeable when watching a TV show and the volume seems normal and then when a commercial comes on, the volume is very loud. They do this to get you to pay attention to the commercial. Another problem might be that you are adjusting volume from both your TV and your cable box. What you should do is make sure your cable box is set to "FIXED VOLUME" and then just adjust your TV volume. Fixed volume will have the cable box output only one volume level, letting the TV do the adjustment. Just go through your cable box setting and look in the audio settings. Hope This helps...

Sci Atlanta 8300 DVR HD sound in HD channels soft - analog channels OK

Experience has shown that with this relatively new mode of transmission, audio levels can be quite dynamic. If your set provides it, you may try turning on "Audio Compress" or whatever the name might be. Could also be called Dynamic audio also or some such. Reason for all the hubbub is that along with HD, mixing engineers are also providing the most range for the audio dynamics as well the most video composition info in the new broadcasts...Accordianman.

Sound of My Vizio L37

I know thier are some hidden sound settings in the menu if you hit your menu key on your remote [or the one on the side of your tv],then goto to the tv and press both the channel up and down buttons simultaneously. You will see a factor menu, try changing the sound settings in there.
