The best way to value something is to look on your local e-bay for it, even if you are not intending to sell it on there. Condition is also important, take something off it the something is missing, if you find a good condition price. Don't try and sell it based on a "buy it now" price, as often these are greatly inflated. Look at the completed auctions or the time ending soonest prices/bids. If there are not many being sold, look at the price of similar Technics models.
I'll give you $500 for it...best to check bluebook.com. be honest about the condition and it is usually right for the selling price. Also check Craiglist.com for your city, type in your info for wanting to buy. This will give you a better asking price for where you live.
I'm sorry to say, but on Craigslist most these tvs (dlp) are selling used for around $50 to $400, but that's assuming the higher priced ones sell for the asking price. A tv shop, if they would buy any of these (they are starting to want just lcd/plasma), would prob only give you around $50. This is just an estimate, but if anything you would be better off trying to sell it online at a site like Craigslist, they have local forums to buy, sell and trade.
