I have an RCA 39" television. Model number is 39LB45RG. When I turn it on it comes up with a pinkish screen with the message "Program Update Failed Initial error is occurred"

What can I do to correct this? The remote will not work, and each time I plug it in to power it comes up with this error.

I have a slightly arched pink & green line accross the top of the screen.

I am wondering if we have the correct model number listed here? If so with the model listed either something is inside like a spider web or that model uses a optical light engine which "might" be able to do this if bad.

Rca L42phd37yx8 42' led tv blackscreen with sound wont show anything

Show a torch light on the screen (not too close) when the TV and program is running. If you can see the picture, the backlights have gone off. Anyhow, the TV needs attention by a qualified service technician.

Have a RCA flatscreen model # L40FHD41, blue power light comes on and stays solid but I don't get any picture or sound. Screen stays completely black as if it doesn't have any power at all.

Other than checking all the connections going to it for signal it is likely a shop repair.

The nature of these sets is someone must open and inspect them and check for voltages missing.

At that point it becomes a guessing game---try the boards (purchase them) and see if a bad board.

It is always possible the front screen unit or display has failed which is fatal cost wise.

You have to weigh the cost of repair, age of set and cost of replacement in this.

The only way anyone can KNOW which board is bad is to actually remove and replace it----most shops look at it and shoot you a high estimate.

let me know if you have questions.

When turned on, after a few seconds, it shows "overload" message then shuts itself off.

The outup of one of the amplifier circuits in your receiver is shorted. To determine if the short is with one of the speakers or internal disconnect all the speakers and start it up - if you still get the message then it's internal and you will have to take it to a repair shop for a professional diagnostic - extensive electronics experience is required for that.
If you don't then it's one of the speakers. To find out which just connect them one at a time until you get the error and replace the failed speaker.

The GUIDE Plus+™ or GUIDE Plus+ GOLD™ on-screen program guide automatically comes up when you use the TV button on the remote to turn on the TV. There are several ways to turn off this function if you wish, depending on your model.
Option A:
Select the GUIDE Plus+™ Menu from the Main menu.
Select Setup.
Select Options.
Select Off.
Option B:
Select the GUIDE Plus+™ Menu from the Main menu.
Select GUIDE Plus+™ Auto Display from the GUIDE Plus+ menu.
Select Off.
Option C:
Press GUIDE on your remote control.
Select the Menu bar.
Press the right arrow button to select Setup.
Choose Review Options.
Select Off.

I know Option C worked for me!!

Given the many TV models, it's possible that accessing control of this feature in the Program Guide menu may differ on your TV. For specific instructions for your model, see your owner's manual.
