The fridge is one with the freezer on the bottom, water will leak from inside the freezer coming from the back. I'm sure it is somthing to do with the condensation drainage but can't work out how to get inside the workings of the fridge to clear the line...
Does anyone out there know how to clear the drainage line, the fridge has a solid back and no visable way of pulling any panel off.
I have a fisher and paykel 450L fridge and its been pissing water out underneath the vege crisper since day one, i was told by f&p whilst it was under warranty that it was because of the humidity and constant opening and closing, i finely had enough of cleaning up fridge pee! you shouldnt have to do this for a 2 year old fridge, god sakes the 20 year old beer fridge doesnt leak. rang f&p and booked a service call $121 fast bucks, had to be available from 12miday untill 5pm bloke showed up at 4.45. inside the fridge he took the back panel off and then got out a part from his bag a long black thing with wires and attached it to the?whatever, but get this! it wasnt a replacement part, this fridge never had this part, so what? did they forget to put it in? and ive have to put up with fridge pee for 2 years?? and why do i have to pay the $121? he told me i wouldnt have to pay for the part? whippee? i already paid for it when i bought the "faulty" fridge. ill be getting to the bottom of this, does f&p know there is a fault? and they dont bother to fess up? lucky they dont make cars!!!! took about 10min and so far no more fridge pee!!
o yeah sorry for anyone who wants their fridge to stop leaking the part that is "missing" is called EVAPORATOR DRAIN ICING KIT 820152P
by the way i rang f&p to complain that i shouldnt have to pay for the service call, as the part that they put in the fridge to fix it should have been in there to start with, they told me it was an upgrade??? i said to them "so you are telling me that f&p now sell leaky fridges and they only way to solve this is to purchase an upgrade" what a load of utter BS, anyway after alot of back and fourth and with alot of lame excuses they agreed to refund me my money and so they should! still no fridge pee

We have a F&P E450 fridge about 2 & 1/2 yrs old and have had an ongoing similar leaking problem. It was a problem that we hoped would resolve after the long humid and wet weather. We did have a service rep attending (whilst still under warranty) a separate adjoining freezer issue 6 months ago (Dec 2010) and he advised to keep emptying the tray at the back and it was probably a symptom of the hot & humid weather. However as this tech was attending the freezer issue, no note of the leaking fridge was recorded by F&P whilst under warranty. We had finally had enough and had a F&P service tech attend today. He fitted the Evap Drain Ice Kit E450/E373 and made a couple of adjustments (adjusted the level so it didn't leak over the front edge and cut the side drain slot lower so it would more easily drain to the secondary evap drain tray) to the to the main drain tray at the rear of the fridge.
Total charge was $229.90 for the privilege. Included in this charge was $103.40 for the above part., $121 for labour and $5.50 "sundry charge"
I now note that this part (820502 EVAP DRAIN ICE KIT E450/E373) is available from Statewide Appliance Spares for $21.95 AUD (postage to be added to this ?). www.statewideapp.com.au/shop/
I'll be taking this up with F&P as it would seem that this is an original design fault that F&P are aware of, have developed a "fix" and are now charging to have this fitted. Let alone the rip off for the cost of the part.

I know that this question is from 3+ years ago, but I just had this problem repaired today. The technician removed the panel at the inside back of the fridge and got rid of all the ice build-up (broke it away or used a hair dryer then towels to remove water).
Then we pulled out the fridge and he removed the rear lower panel, cleaned out the ball of gunk from the small drain line that is just reachable (but not visable) in the upper-center of that panel opening.
I watched him carefully so that, if this happens again, I can perform this maintenance myself. In my case, it was a small ball of dog hair that had accumilated on the rubber 'fingers' of that drain pipe.
The FP rep told him to snip a few of those 'fingers' off to allow water to pass more easily.

Thanks for this advice -This was our problem too - gunk and frozen ice in the drain area at the very back of the freezer behind a panel. Hmm it looked like black dog hair - and we dont have a hairy black dog!! Anyway so far so good it looks like no more piddly fridge problem :)

Okay just had this same problem, the condensation drainage pipe was blocked. We removed the evaporation tray (two screws on the back) and cleared the pipe/nozzle that drips into it from above. Have replaced the tray and will see how it goes. Prior to this we did delve into the inner workings of the freezer and noticed that behind the concealment panel it was all iced over so we defrosted and cleared the ice blockage from the top with hot water first.
Major pain but hopefully it's fixed now.

Leaking F&P freezer. Same problem that others have described. Turned out to be an extreme need for defrosting. Removed back cover of freezer and chipped ice away... be careful that don't break the thermometer in the top right corner... it has a fairly long wire attached though. Then had to remove the cover with the fan... careful again as wires are attached on right hand side. Then had to chip away ice from under the cooler, both above and under a piece of metal foil. Then finally discovered the hole that drains away the condensation which had been completely iced over. I also increased the tilt on the fridge so that doors more easily swing shut and cleaned around the rubber seals of the freezer so that they were clean and supple. Hairdyer was useful for loosening the ice... careful with water and electricity! Put it all back together... this was easier as it wasn't all frozen over. Went to bed and got up... so far no leaks... :)
RF20-1ADUX1 model was froze up in the freezer section. When the door was open for any length of time or warmer food put in to freeze, it would cause some thawing of built up ice behind the freezer drawer panel. Loosen two screws to remove panel behind drawer. Had to use a hair dryer to melt all of the ice. When this was done, water did drain as it was supposed to into the condenser tray behind the back panel of the fridge. (White plastic tray above compressor unit). Reinstalled the cover in the freezer drawer and plugged it back in. Increased the elevation on the front foot jacks so hopefully any further water will drain towards the back. Fridge may have been sloped too much to the front prior. Thanks for the other ideas that led to this fix.

I have a f&p bottom freezer doing the same thing and this was supposed to be a frost free, I shut down the fridge and removed the back panel from inside the freezer, be carefull here it has wires attached and a sensor. I dicovered the fan had thrown a blade and was not working correctly replaced all of back panel with fan attached.
Hi there, I have an e522b which was doing the same thing pissing water out onto the floor from the freezer compartment. having had enough of this I prised off the panel at the back which was not easy and found the condensate drain. I filled the tray with hot water thinking that it would melt any ice which I thought was blocking it. nothing happened so I stuck a clothes hanger down the hole and couldn\'t get it to go thru, so I tried a screwdriver from the bottom up at the back of the fridge. whatever was in there I managed to force it up. when i went back around the front it was a half inch screw that was lodged in the drain. must have been there from manufacture because the freezer had always been doing this.

Same as solution number seven except i think i broke the tray mount by pushing the fridge too clolse to the wall ,I have propped it up with a kebab skewer so the element is submerged.
If it continues to leak I will consider replacing the skewer a couple of times and finally I will concede defeat and spend a few euros replacing the tray.
I'll probably crack it again pushing the fridge back in.
Perhaps the fridge could have a bumper or fender fitted to protect the 2 mm of plastic that anchors its "evaporation system resevoir tray " to the cooling unit interface device.
I have the exact same problem. Every 6 months or so we have to turn the fridge off and defrost it. Right now it is 12 degrees in the fridge as there is solid ice between the fridge and freezer (on top). We had the guy out twice while the fridge was under waranty. He replaced some bits like the fan but obviously this didn't fix it.
First time he said there was a pea or something stuck in the drain but it keeps happening and sounds like a design fault. It simply keeps icing up.
Anyone got some tips on avoiding this happening again?
I had the same problem. At the time of manufacture, the tray that holds the defrost water was broken by over-tightening the screws.
The tray is right above the compressor and fills with water to be evaporated by the heated returning coolant. If this tray is slightly out of level or cracked, it will leak out the back. I got one replaced on warranty. It took about a week to get. Installation is easy.
The active smart fridge has a panel at the back of both fridge and freezer that pulls out drainage line is underneath that

Please advise where the dispenser is leaking? If it is dripping out the front of the door, then I suggest you run the water dispenser to flush about 3 liters of water. Does the noise stop when you open the fridge door?

My fridge has the freezer at the top and every few months it starts to leak water out of the bottom. I have had the F & P service guy around on several occasions but it still does this. I have to switch the fridge off for a couple of days to allow the built up ice to defrost... annoying to say the least. Never buying F & P again.
I also have the same problem which is becoming a real in conveinience to say the least - Especially leakage onto floorboards!!!

have the same problem with my elba, old fridges it use to be easy to fix, a few drops of bleach, wire down the pipe, new fridge is all sealed, took internal covers off....hmmmm.
