Disconnect the radio and then open it up and see if any wires are bared and touching each other, or maybe a component is blown and making a short circuit. More likely the Amplifier IC is blown and making the short circuit, and in turn is blowing the fuse. Look for a crack on a multi-legged black IC, that is normally the Audio Amplifier IC. Or maybe just take it into a Car Radio Repair Shop if you don't want to open it and that should be able to tell you if that Radio is worth repair to resell :)

How do I test the fuse if a Ford freestar windshield motor?

Hi IM AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair!

First, if you don't have a test light then go to a parts store and buy one. Next Step: clip it to the negative side of the battery post, next use the probe end of the test light and check both sides of the fuse with the key in the on position. If both side's light up the fuse is good, if one side doesn't light replace the fuse. NOTE: If the fuse blows as soon as you install it, then most likely the motor is shorted and blowing the fuse, in this case replace the motor. Hope this helps and please visit my auto-repair-website: http://www.bigasautorepair.com/

Need stereo color wiring diagram for 1995 Chevy Astro Van. Old radio stolen.

Easiest to replace would be the factory Delco AM/FM CD...plug in to existing terminals. If wires cut, you should include the plug in terminals with the replacement radio...Local Pic-A-Part is my go to salvage yard radio $25-$75...Walmart also sells radio wire install kits...$14.95? Hope this helps.

Chevrolet Venture Problems

What is the circuit in question powering? There is more than just a radio, there may be amps, antennas, clocks, and lights in the radio that is a separate circuit. Look close at the wiring diagram and make sure none of those things apply. For example, if the antenna gets power from the radio, but is fed from another fuse, there is the tie. Or speed sensing control, ties to the speed control and feeds through the radio. Things can get complicated. You may also have a shorted or miss wired device. If anyone has changed the wiring or components from factory, I would suspect that first.

Main fuse keeps blowing. changed battery and installed radio. brand new fully connected postitive termial, vusually checked all wires coming off battery. some sort of radio relay clciks when radio plugged...

Hello! Identify which fuse is blowing...also, does it blow as soon as it is installed or does it blow when you turn the key? Lastly your not referring to a fusible link but a maxi-fuse...ie...40; Correct?

Blowing fuses

If the red wire scraped against the firewall on the way to battery due to sharp edges on the metal it will just short out. It has a dead short somewhere in the wiring or in the CB itself thats why it is just popping fuses as soon as they are installed.
