LG VX8700 - No sound coming from speaker

My LG VX8700 has also suddenly lost sound. I can't hear keypad noises, ringtones, or people on the other end of the line. The speaker has completely failed - and at random. When I went to work today everything worked fine, about halfway through my shift I saw that I had several text messages but had not heard them, now realizing that I can't hear anything at all!

I came home and disassembled the phone, and all boards/cables are seated and connected properly. I took everything apart and reconnected everything to no avail. Could this be a firmware issue?

Sounds just like the problem I had. I took the phone apart and removed the internal speaker. Tried the contacts with another speaker from another phone...and it worked. This leads me to believe that the internal speaker has failed. I am now on the hunt to get a replacement speaker.

I've had my phone for about 15 months. It still works people can ring me and I can call out. However, I have totally lost sound. The keypad sounds and ringtone do not work and I can not hear anyone on...

Its internal speaker (not the earpiece speaker) is dead. I dropped a phone handset of mine and the little speaker snapped off of the circuit board internally.

You don't say if the unit (model ???) has a base station or is wireless. My base station would still ring.

My LG vx-8700 vibrates, but no sound works on the phone. The caller can hear me, but I hear nothing (ringing, caller, voicemail, etc.) EXCEPT through the earpiece. I CAN hear all through the earpiece, but...

I just had this same problem. It is a hardware issue. Call verizon back explain the situation, they will call your phone to verify that the mic and speaker aren't working and they will send you a replacement within 2 days.

A temporary solution is plugging a wired headset into the phone and taking it out, it will work for a few hours.

I've had an LG VX8700 for almost 2 years. I'm suddenly getting a Camera Start Error and the camera won't work, but 5 minutes later it will. Does that mean I'm coming up to the end of my phones life?

NOT UR PHONES LIFE, JUST THE CAMERA LIFE. THERE IS A SOFTWARE ISSUE. ALOT OF TIMES IT DOES MORE HARM TO TRY TO HAVE IT FIXED BY THE CARRIER THAN TO JUST GO AHEAD AND RENEW UR CONTRACT AND GET A NEW PHONE.
