The but does not help. every disk I load says samething even orig disk. Even put recorded on this player. Still says loading and then no disk. Any help appreciated.

Before you go through all of that trouble, you might want to go pick up a Maxell DVD cleaning disk. I maintain a few old Laser disk players with DVD and find that this disk works well for cleaning the optics without taking apart the machine. This disk has a small brush that cleans the lens as it rotates and provides some images to show that the disk is reading. I would try this first as it is low cost ($6.00) and can be used over and over.

The small limit switch for the disc in position typically goes bad on about 40% of all Sony Minidisc recorders. It is a $5 part, but will probably cost you $35 to get it installed.

Go to radio shack and get a cd lens cleaner kit.

How it's supposed to work is to get a program that recognizes the camera, then the tape can be captures. Windows Movie Maker never supported it. In fact Microsoft doesn't even support it anymore. They have recommended using Pinncale Studio to work with DV cameras.

Once you install Studio, put the tape in, turn the camera on, Studio will load up.

Try this. In your SETUP options, ensure that AUTO FINALIZE and FINALIZE AT END OF TIMER are turned OFF.

Insert DVD to be finalized. Quickly press SETUP button. Be patient while DVD loads. (You will not see the "loading" bar on your TV screen. You will instead be mesmerized by the SETUP options!)

Once DVD has loaded the DISK FINALIZE option will be available. You can then FINALIZE.

I found it cheaper to get DVD-R from Radio Shack (about $5 for 25) for VHS movies that I know I want to keep. They do record up to 6 hours, even though the packaging is unclear on this point. Picture quality is as good as the expensive DVD's.

it might need to be cleand u take the sheild off and take a q tip and lightly clean the laser

Its actually in the troubleshooting manual. Pg 126. Try putting in the disk with the label face up, that might work too,

However this then will make the disk unusable for anything else
Switch to CR R or DVD R as appropriate

error in any disk i put in!!!!!!!!!

This unit is showing and error message "Disc Not Recordable" with a maxell DVD-R 1-16 Speed Single Sided Recordable DVD.
