You have no audio because it's in protect mode, could have a short in the speaker connections or one of the speakers - try it with speaker wires disconnected at the amp and also with a different pair of known good 16 ohm speakers. If the protect mode light doesn't go out then you may have cooked a driver and it will need to go to a shop.

Lightning Audio b2.3000.4 is in protect mode. i removed all speaks and conected the amp directly to the battery and it still stays in protect mode. what can i do to fix this problem?

  • Only a select few things can cause protect mode with the battery only connected.
  • An installation issue. Check the Power, Ground and Remote wires. Make sure non are shorting from one terminal to the other.
  • It is still overheated and has not had time to cool down from being in thermal protect mode.
  • The amp itself is touching metal. You always want something non conductive between the amp and where it is mounted, this includes the screws being used to anchor the amp. They should never touch the metal in the car either.
  • The final thing that can cause an amp to go into protect mode while only hooked to the battery is the amp itself is malfunctioning and or defective. You can try opening the amp and look for any black spots on the circuit board where an electrical component might have smoked up or blown and replace that part.

How do you reset the protection mode

The protection function has been activated because it has sensed an output load problem, turn receiver off and remove the speaker wires, this will reset the protection circuit. Now! turn the device on and turn the volume right down, if the protection mode stays off it indicates a short in the speaker wire or one of the speakers, but! if the protection circuit comes on with "the speakers and wires dis-connected" it means there is a short in the audio outputs in the receiver itself, this can only be rectified by having the parts replaced.

The indicator light on the amp is staying red in protection mode how do i get it out of protection mode?

Check your manual, sometimes you have to take it back in, depending on the protection. Sometimes you have to change up the fuse. Is there enough power going to the amp, or to much?

It overheated, due to lack of ventilation. Now in protective mode

Disconnect all speakers at the receiver, if it stays on, post a comment and I can help you troubleshoot further. If it stays in "protect" it needs serviced. Hope this helps.

Why does my amp stay in protect mode?

The most common reason an amplifier goes into or remains in protect mode is shorted output transistors. To eliminate other possible reasons for it to go into protect, read the following page.
