Need a software driver for the DV5300SE compatible with Windows Vista

Hello, I just got a DV5300SE camera and the installation disc it comes with includes every version of Windows up to and including XP-- but I have a computer which uses Windows Vista. I went to the Mustek site and looked up drivers, but there are none listed for this model. I would appreciate any information about Vista software for the DV5300SE. Thank you very much.

I have a mustek ds5300se series camera too. I also am getting that codec message. I have windows vista. How can I play my movie? I tried plugging the camera into the laptop and also just putting the card in and nothing works.

I found the driver. go to vlc downloads, you can google and find it. You just download this freeware. Drag and drop the video to it and it starts playing for you.

I have the same camera and a laptop with VISTA. I can upload the files from the camera to the laptop. The problem does not seem to be a driver for the DV5300SE camera it seems to be a CODEC for the Windows Media Player. The software on the disk provided does not work for VISTA but, just plug in the camera. I have found various .ASF file converters but, I didn't want to spend anything more on this if I didn't need to.

I just came from the Mustek website, there is no mention of your cameras there at all. It is almost like Mustek never made them. I am seeing companies claiming to sell a Mustek DV5300SE camera on the cheap tho. Is it possible that these are rebranded cameras?

  • Anonymous Feb 22, 2008

the XP driver is mentioned on the Mustek Tiwian site at http://www.mustek.com.tw/Support/ but nothing on the U.S. site. So far I have nothing on a purely Vista driver. Do you know for sure that the XP driver will not work in Vista?

I have windows vista 64bit which is given me a lot of software compatibility problems.I now want to install windows 7 32bit or 64bit.I have the software i need the drivers how can i download them.

Hi ,
If you still have Vista on your machine , insert W 7 install disc and select " upgrade " and you should'nt worry about drivers .
If you already have installed W 7 , let W 7 search the missing drivers ( go to the device manager and select the yellow triangles ) .
If some drivers are still missing , you will need to search manually on the manufacturre's site .
Good luck !

How to add videos to my computer of a mustek dv5300se

This little guy usually comes with a USB cable. You should get one if posible.

I would instead... get a card reader and remove the memory card to plug directly into your computer.
mainly because these guys use a lot of battery power to just stay on.

When you put the card reader on your computer or plug the camera into your machine.. you should be able to see the device in your "my computer" if you're using windows XP or Vista.

You don't need special software.. but i beleive Picasa works well for this

Need the driver

Hey Molivencia,
According to the manufacturer this camera not only comes with Nikon Picture Project, but also comes with Kodak Easyshare software. Both versions are not compatible with Windows 2000, but according to Nikon there is a version of Kodak Easyshare v.6.0.1 that is compatible with Windows 2000, and I have provided a link below to it. I hope this helps!

Windows Vista?

Have you tried compatibility mode? When installing the drivers, install it manually by right-clicking the setup program and clicking properties and then choose the compatibility tab. After that you can set to Compatibility to Windows XP or 98 and try installing it once again. Usually it is resolved by doing this.

If you want to just transfer photos, your camera comes with a memory card right? For example you have an SD memory card, you just need a memory card reader and you wont need to install anything to transfer your photos to the PC, you just simply plug the card reader to the usb port and insert your cameras memory card and it's as easy as dragging and dropping.

If all else fails, try calling the customer support of your camera and ask for a driver for vista...
