Most, if not all external hard drived do not need a driver. Connect the drive and power, turn it on. There is no need to use the backup program that comes with the drive. Use Windows backup that comes with Windows 7.
1 of 2 things can be wrong...1 (cable may be loose) unplug the cable (ext HD) connected to pc, now reinsert back into pc..try this once or twice...until you see it appear in my computer....if this is not working and your ext HD came with a CD software..uninstall (make sure ext HD is not connected) software, then reinstall make sure your firewall allows it to be connected....this should do the trick...now plug HD back up to pc...do not format your ext hd unless you really really dont want the data on it (format erases everything)
try going to system setup! an configering ur 120 hd ! if its an older laptop its bios may not support that big a hard drive! but u can download software for maxtar that will trick it into takeing it!
its a free download ! maxtar.com an the model # an it should do it ! u need to burn the software to a cd or dvd so ur laptop boots up on it! when u download it set it up on ur dvd or cd so it will boot an install ! good luck! merry christmas!
