I have a 1981 evivrude 25hp outboard motor throttle engine doesn't pick up speed till I push ******* manual choke then it speeds up and runs good if I let off choke it slows down

It seems like you may be experiencing a short in the neutral switch of your Honda outboard motor. This issue could be causing the engine to shut down when you push the throttle past trolling speed. If you're able to manually run the engine without the shifter and it runs full tilt, this could further support the possibility of a short in the neutral switch. renew spark plugs,mix up some fresh fuel,put choke on,throttle set at just above idle,pump up fuel bulb by hand till tight,put outboard in a water drum,try pulling or turning on starter till it fires,then push choke in and restart

Check for a sticking kill switch in the throttle control.

high speed jet in carb is blocked

if you have a seperate control for vehicle speed [i.e. hydrostatic].yes,thats how they make them now.

I would check if the fuel hoses are big enough diameter AND the fuel level in the carburettor is high enough...

Not familiar with that specific motor but had similar vintage smaller HP Johnsons. From my experience it sounds like it could be that the high speed carb adjustment is too lean. What I would try is running the backing off the high speed screw 1/4 turn to 3/4 turn, then test. If works better, screw back in in 1/8 turn increments until the problem recurs, then back out 1/4 turn and leave it there.

Sound like the fuel pump is not keeping up with the engine's demand. Check it out. Good luck. Hope this helps.
