Audio-technica AT-PL 120 turntable speed is very very fast Like 100 RPM. Regardless of speed setting selected. Has not been used much at all since new.

This could be the result of pitch adjustments gone awry. Also, you may have both the 45 and 33 1/3 buttons pushed down which cause it run at 78. Here are a few trouble shooting tips and you can find the full manual for the TT at the link posted below:

Record sounds too fast or too slow. 1.) Turntable is set for wrong speed. Make proper speed selection for record type being played with platter speed buttons. 2.) Variable pitch is engaged. Depress quartz button or return pitch adjust slider to center detent position to engage quartz lock. Moving pitch adjust slider produces no effect. If the LED next to the pitch adjust slider center detent position remains green when the slider is moved, quartz lock is engaged. Depress the quartz button to disengage the quartz lock and activate variable pitch. The LED should turn RED

Sewing Speed slowed down then stopped. The motor seems to have the power it needs but will not turn the gears fast enough to sew. Any thoughts what might be the cause?

You didn't state the make/model of your machine. If it is a mechanical sewing machine, it probably could use a good cleaning and oiling. If the old oil has solidified, it is sticking the parts together and preventing them from moving. Do NOT force the motor to try to run the machine until you get a resolution to the issue or it could burn out the motor.

I have a Sherwood PD - 913 R and the pitch seems to be spinning out of sync which makes the RPM"s not right for 33 or 45 speeds, any help on what could be the cause is appreciated. There is a pitch...

The turntable motor might be the problem, if the grease is old it becomes hard causing the turntable to run slow, by your description we can rule that out since you indicate it runs to fast. therefore it is the voltage that powers the motor with a regulator "keeps voltage constant" or the motor itself will be the problem. The pitch control allows a small change in speed when required.

1960s stereogram.bsr turntable turning to do fast.

If I can understand you right, the turntable is running fast. I don't think you need a new motor, generally the deck will run slow if the motor is knackered (or not at all). What you need to do is remove the platter, you will find a horseshoe bracket holding it on at the spindle (it may be covered up so you wil have to remove the cover part often a silver disc). The most likely cause will be the rubber idler tyre being worn damaged etc or out of place. There could be grease dirt or something else causing the problem.

There is no speed adjust, but 1st you must know the source of the slow down. Remove the belt from the motor pulley and run it, if it goes fast try turning the hand wheel if it is stiff the machine needs clean and oil. If it turns freely you motor may be dirty or just slow. If dirty, sometimes you can without the blet attached run it at full speed for 10 to 15 minutes. It should get faster as you run it. If not motor is weak or slow needs replace. Just replacement motor as genuine probably no longer available.

I just installed a Hunter five minute fan which says it is called the augusta. I have also installed several other hunter fans in my house through the years, and they seem to move extremely fast especially...

Speed is not a factor in moving air. You can move air with a little fan that runs real fast or you can move the same amount of air with a big fan that moves slow.

It is the pitch of the blades that moves air. Big blades with steep pitch moving slow are comparable to little blades with shallow pitch that move fast.

It seems to me someone is trying to baffel you with bull**** when they tell you CFM = watts or something similar.

The real question is, is the fan moving the air necessary to achieve the result you desire? If yes, speed is not really a factor.

Let me know if this helps you.

Motor is sluggish, Necchi Model#4795

Set machine to wind the bobbin to check for how fast the machine will run. I believe it will run fast or slow according to how hard you depress the foot control. If it runs fast and slow you have a problem in the machine. Most likely the machine, if turned by hand, is hard to turn and it needs to be professionally serviced. before it is ruined.
