Brand new scanner which I tried to setup gives an error - Scanner locked when I try to copy a page. There is no visible lock switch beneath the scanner nor a software menu where I can "unlock" it. Xerox provided me with wrongful guide papers, and on their support site there is no section where I can check for the error. Google does not bring a solution either .....
Try unplugging the unit , wait 10 seconds and plug it back in. Usually that will reset the scanner!
SOURCE: cannot remove "scanner locked"
What you need to do is look in the area where your copied pages come out, Between the paper tray and the bottom of the scanner.
On the underside of the scanner you will see a green latch, It is the only green item on the underside of the scanner. About 2 inches long and a half inch wide.
Turn off the machine, push that lever in, then, and it may resist some, pull it toward yourself until it snaps fully to the front of the machine.
Normally what happens is people hit it with the top of their hand removine their copies.
You can take a piece of electrical tape or duct tape and put over it to secure it in place.
You can also, remove the seal glass, the piece of glass about 1 inch wide on the left side of the scanner. It just has 2 phillips screws in it. This with the machine unplugged, and pop that green latch out and flip it around. There is a tab that will keep it from moving. That latch is for shipping purposes.

The Xerox 6110 MFP has a green 'lock/unlock' slider on the "roof" of the "out" paper tray (under the front control pannel assembly); see images below. When slide to the back, it locks the scanner, and to the front unlocks it.

When you open the top (like putting a document in for scanning) there is a slider (button) on the left hand side of the glass. Just slide it from the "locked" symbol to the "unlocked" symbol.
It took me 2 hours to fix this problem, after the house cleaner turned my MFP to locked without me knowing.
;-)
Cheers,
