If you look carefully at the key switch with a magnifying glass, you may be able to see where the wire came from. This will save you having to wait for a circuit diagram and get back on the road asap.

1984 f250 fires only when rolling back key switch

If your saying no spark at the plugs, The positive side of ignition coil should be hot, with key in crank or run position. If it isn't, I'd have to check ignition switch and wiring circuits.
I don't have a good wiring diagram for your model year, I can't look up wiring.

How can I get a wiring diagram for part number 316436001?

The wiring diagram should be on the range that the switch is going on. That's a Frigidaire part number and they usually put the wiring diagram on back of unit. If not, you can look at the other switches and just match up and wire the same. Be careful and Good Luck

Electric windows not working

Check the fuses first and then the window switches themselves. You will have to remove them and put a meter on them. You can cross the wires to see if the window will go up or down. If you can do it by crossing the wires then the switch is bad.

Wiring diagram 1989

it may be a bad ignition switch=try this test! ( supplies about 50% of power. put key to position 2 the oil light, brake light, charge light and all other warning lights will not function.turn key to start position, as soon as it trys to start let go of key. allow to snap back to run position. and note warning lights, if warning lights go out when switch is snapped back! switch is faulty. in this case. there is no power past switch. check all of the main fuses first!! and wiring to rule them out.

All power windows don't work

Dealers-hmmph.
You may have to keep looking for another broken wire. To the driver's master switch, a tan wire looks like the hot wire (feed) for the switch. And a black wire is ground, originating at the master switch and going back into the cabin with the wire harness, and then to a nearby ground source, probably behind the left kick panel. If you pull the master switch off, key on,, check for power on the tan wire terminal of the switch connector. Use a test light or a voltmeter. Now if you have a hot wire on the connector, put one volt meter lead on the hot wire terminal and the negative lead onto the black wire terminal. If ground is good, voltmeter will read battery voltage. If ground is lost, voltmeter will show nothing. Same with test light-check for a hot wire with key on. If yes, put test light lead on hot wire and use probe to touch ground-if ground is good, tester will light up. Alternatively, you could remove the left kick panel and check the security of the ground to frame there.
The only place I know for a wiring diagram would be a repair manual. Haynes manuals are about the best (about $25 at parts stores), short of a factory service manual for big bucks.
If still no luck with windows, and no hot wire with key on, pull the circuit breaker for the windows on the fuse panel under dash. With key on,. one of those terminals for the circuit breaker should show power. Ground a test light and probe both terminals to check for power. If no power there, check under hood fuses or fuse links that feed the fuse box. If CB has power available, well, that's the feed for the tan wire-sounds like either the tan wire or the black ground wire may have a break. If power to switch, check ground wire.
As a last resort, try a new circuit breaker if powered at CB terminal but nothing at driver's switch. If power is to switch on tan wire, and ground is working, consider that you may have gotten a defective master switch-not likely, but known to happen.

My 1984 Buick regal back lights stop working, any suggestions on wht to and where to check?

Hello ojuice44,

If the bulb are good the next place to look is to check the fuses, if your turn signals work the fuse will be good. The fuse for the back-up lights is the same one for the turn signal..

After that there are two areas to check.

First, check for power and ground at the bulb sockets if ground is good and no power go to next step. If no ground repair the ground circuit ( See diagram below).

Second, check for power to the gear selector switch. Check for power with the key on and engine off going into the switch on the dark blue wire (See diagram below) if no power repair that circuit. If there is power there, then with the key on and engine off put the gear selector in reverse and check for power at the light green wire if there is power there the switch is good if no power replace the switch. If you do have power at the light green wire coming out of the switch repair the light green circuit from there to the taillights.

I hope this helps.

I have a 1993 buick lesabre. The security light is flashing and will not start. I checked the fuse it was ok. I tried our other key and still wouldn't start.

there may be a broken wire from the ignition swith going down the steering column, theres two sensors at the begining opening of switch, sometimes they get stuck and dont pop back out, in turn it doesnt touch the chip on the key and cant read it,take a look with a light use a small pic and push lightly on them and see if the y push in and pop out, if they do then replace ignition swith, theres a way to bypass, use an omh meter and measure resistance of key chip, then buy a resistor with the same value, and connenet to wires from switch under the dash, cut wires and put conecting the two going to switch with resistor connecting them together, heres a diagram,193b32f.jpg

Car wont do anything when key is turned on.

magnetic pellet ,doesn't have one . Besides it's not a magnetic pellet . It would be a resistor pellet for the anti- theft system , which your vehicle does have . And it wouldn't be the ignition lock cylinder either if you can turn the key to the start position . Possibly the electrical part of the ignition switch . Viewing a wiring diagram for power flow and checking with a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter would be the proper way to diagnose .Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model and engine size . Under system click electrical distribution ,then under subsystem click on power distribution . Click the search button then the blue links . The light's work because they have seperate power supply ,looking at first diagram you will see this . Thrid diagram down is ignition switch power feed . Top right of the page you will see the letter A , that gets B+ voltage from fusible link B . Finding the ignition switch under the dash on the bottom of the steering column an testing for B+ voltage on the red wire . If B+ voltage is there fusible link is good . Fusible link B is attached at the starter solenoid .B+ stud . If there is B+ power to the ignition switch check for power from the switch .Can you figure that out ? You should also check out some videos on youtube for basic automotive electrical testing .
