FUJI FINE PIX E500. TURNS OFF WHEN I TRY TO TAKE A PICTURE

THE CAMERA TURNS OFF WHEN I TRY TO TAKE A PICTURE. THE LENS STAYS OUT UNTIL I RECYCLE THE POWER BUTTON. IT SEEMS LIKE IT HAPPENS AFTER A FEW PICTURES HAVE BEEN TAKEN. INSERTING FRESH BATTERIES SEEMS TO HELP BUT THE SAME CONDITION HAPPENS. THE BATTERY VOLTAGE MEASURES LOW BUT THE LOW BATTERY ICON ISN,T SHOWN. COULD THE BATTERY CIRCUIT NOT DISCONNECT ON POWER OFF AND CONTINUE TO DRAIN THE BATTERIES?

Same problem. We have replaced the batteries with new batteries multiple times, and still the camera locks up and turns off. Sometimes it works when we turn it back off and on again, but bottom line - it stops working (powers off) far too often, with no apparent fix.

i have the same problem! even with brand new batteries, in a few minutes the camera low battery meter comes on and the camera shuts off. after testing the batteries with a proper voltometer, they seem to be fully charged. either the camera is draining the batteries very quickly due to a short of some kind or else the camera *thinks* that the batteries are drained even though they really are just fine (which would be a bad sensor, i would imagine)

Sometimes fine lines but other times like a burst of light. This just started happening recently. But when I take a picture in the dark with the flash the photo turns out fine. Any answer as to what caused this? Thanks

Shutter does not work.

It's not a shutter, but aperture unit is jammed.
Try these: Move lens all the way out and while pressing release button, gently tap on the tip of the lens using something soft/havy like small rubber hammer or piece of rubber.

Can't take picture

I'M NOT AN EXPERT BUT CURRENTLY ON MY THIRD FUJI CAMERA. THE "FINE PIX" CAMERAS TAKE FANTASTIC PHOTOS BUT ARE DELICATE IN SOME WAYS BUT FOR THE PRICE THEY ARE HARD TO BEAT. MY FIRST A500 HAD THE SAME PROBLEM FROM THE SAME EXACT CIRCUMSTANCES.... TALKED TO 2 DIFFERENT CAMERA REPAIR SPECIALISTS AND TO THE AUTHORIZED FUJI REPAIR CENTER...... ESTIMATES FOR INDEPENDENT REPAIR AND FROM AUTH. FUJI CENTER RAN ABOUT DOUBLE THE COST OF A NEW UNIT... BEST ADVISE IS TO START SEARCHING "BEST BUY" OR "CIRCUIT CITY" ON-LINE SPECIALS/ CLEARENCE

FUJI FINEPIX S7000

Try it with a different set of battery. It is possible that one of your battery is "dead" or close to it, and the camera shuts down.

You have to find the bad battery.

It worked for me.
