Hi, I have a Gateway PC DX4840-11e with Window 7 system.
It was working ok, until free months again, when Windows start update to 10.
The system is still Window 7, the problem is that when I use it, the computer without reason/ warning, the computer get stuck and the monitor becomes black. However, the computer is still on. The computer' power LED is still on, the fan is still working, but everything just stuck and black.
So, I try to force turn off the computer; then, try to turn on again. It is not Boot. The power on, but it is stuck in there, no Boot, then of course not going to the Window.
Wait for few minutes, I turn on again. Then, this time it is working right.
Until... It happen again.
1. I changed a new Video card.
2. I did soft spy hunt.
3. I did change the CPU' heat sink grease
After I did those steps, the computer will working right for few days, few week; then stuck again.

Try removing the battery and then holding down the power button for a few minutes to discharge the cache. Reinstall the battery, and without starting the phone, plug it in to charge. If this doesn't work you will have to do a hard reset.

Ok, first off when you turn off the computer without shutting down, windws does not get enough time to wirte necessary data to the disc, this does not always cause aproblem because sometimes there are unpredictable events such as power failure..
You might need to format your hardrive to fix this problem
To do this boot with the windows cd, it will say press any key to boot from disc. (YOU MIGHT NEED TO SET YOUR BOOT DEVICE IN THE BIOS(SETUP))
anyway fisrt off try a fresh install, leaving your current file system intact. Id that works then you will still have all your data on your disc, If not then you need to do a complete format.. Good Luck
