Without seeing your make or model on you monitor it is difficult to give you any advice. But with that said.. If your monitor is a flat screen there is a power cord that plugs into the wall the cord is connected to a small box (power converter) out of the box is a small connector that goes into your monitor. It is small and you may have to turn you Monitor over to see exactly where it connects.
Your computer will work whether or not you have Internet service.
check the tv setup menu for rf input mode [choices will be 'air', cable' and cable hrc'] usuallu when this is set incorrectly, the upper channels will be most affeced, and in most cases the video quality suffers- however, if the set is otherwise functioning properly, it is possible that this setting is not set for the signal you cable provider is sending. in hrc mode, some channels are shifted a half megahertz. good luck
See what audio outputs your tv has. See if your HTS has matching inputs. If it does connect them with the proper cable(s). Connecting to the tv should cause your HTS to work with anything you are watching on the tv.
Do you mean that the TV shuts off and the cable box also shuts off? Is the TV plugged into the back of the cable box? This sounds to me as if the cable box is defective and the TV is plugged into the cable box instead of the power strip. To prove whether or not the cable box is defective, plug the cable directly into the TV, plug the TV directly into the wall outlet and watch one of the lower channels. If the TV acts up and shuts off, have the TV serviced. If the TV plays fine, replace the cable box.
we have hooked another tv to it...and it worked fine just not the 55 inch
