The easy way to clear the bios password and reset bios is to take out the bios battery and start computer for about 10 seconds and then turn it back off and replace the battery. When you turn it back on you may need to go into the bios and reset everything the way you want it, and don't forget to rest the time and date.

You are welcome

Power on your laptop and pressing F10 to get entered in BIOS setting.
Enter your HDD password (that you previously set) and then leave the 'new' password fields empty
hit enter then save your BIOS settings.

SOURCE: BIOS failure ??? DEll Systems OptiPlex GX270 Series

this may or may not help, try taking out the cmos battery out (looks like a watch battery) and leave for a few minutes then replace, this will reset the bios.

SOURCE: my dell optiplex gx200 bios can't boot

maybe try taking out the cmos battery located in your case, looks like a small watch battery, that will clear bios settings and start from scratch, if there is no battery then there is a jumper sequence to do this

SOURCE: Bios default password

The BIOS default password is just blank, and it is not asked.

When you set a bios password, you are asked to enter a value, therefore if bios is asking the password, the password had been changed.

To reset the bios password if you do not know the password you need to access to motherboard and temporarily remove battery for few seconds.
Removing battery will reset bios and delete the password.
Unplug power cord before accessing the motherboard, and try not touching the motherboard with your finger.
Put battery back in place before restarting computer.

How to disable Hard drive password

Did you clear your BIOS to rid yourself of the bios password first? Just making sure you are really looking for the hdd password (which you set while setting the BIOS password I assume) There are some tools out there to help you remove/rest the hdd password but lets be sure that's what you need to do first. Be warned, the tools don't always work and unless you remember the password you might be looking at complete data loss and a new hard drive.

How do I delete or reset a new system password, and a HDD password so that I can set a administrator password on a optiplex 390 i5 window 7.?

If you do not have the current passwords, it's going to be a bit of a problem. The BIOS password mostly. Contact Dell Support: http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/optiplex-390/pd Perhaps they will give you a one-time BIOS password. If it's a login password, you could try a Full Factory Recovery. If someone put the passwords in , I would ask them, that's the easiest way.

I lost all password for dell desktop optiplex computer bios password hard drive password cmos password

Lots of sites say to move the PSWD jumper (on the motherboard) from pins 1&2 to pins 3&4, or something like that. However on my Optiplex 360 I found that the PSWD jumper had only 2 pins. By trial and error I found that removing the jumper from these two pins while the system was off allowed me to boot the system with BIOS password disabled. I was then able to change BIOS settings (and install Linux - yeah!!).
