I appreciate your post, Steve!

From my understanding you would like to know which wire should be used from the bracket box to your oven for your Frigidaire oven. I have provided you a copy of your installation manual. I am showing that the amp needed for your oven is a 40 amp circuit. I hope that is helpful for you. -Matt

I have a frigidaire range model number FEFL78CQA

Hello Steve Spinner - From what you have described it sounds like the range is either experiencing a wiring failure or the outlet may be damaged. Could it be pulling too much current, is the range plugged into the correct breaker size? If any proves to be ineffective, contact a professional to move forward accurately.

What size breaker and wire for this oven

Hello Sbilko,

I understand that you are tring to find a breaker and wire size for your GE JKP28 Double Oven. As I look up the specs on your oven I find that both ovens are rated at 30 amps. This requires you to use two thirty amp breakers one for each oven. The industry standard for Oklahoma requires that you use at least #10/2 wire for a 30 amp breaker. However, in some places it states that you can use #12/2 although I would not recommend using #12 gauge wire.

My suggestion to you is two 30 amp breakers and #10/2 gauge wire, this should be what will take care of the circuits and keep the wire form heating up.

I am havine a problem getting the self cleaning working on my O'keefe & Merritt electric oven. I don't know the model, but I do know that it was purchased in 1978. I've used the self cleaning setting...

Keefe Merritt 12 6267 Manual Book

O & M was merged with what has become Frigidaire/Electrolux Home Products.

You can get parts from them.

The serial number for a built in wall oven from that era would be something like this : 11-6361-30/123

Electrolux's parts number is 800 599 7569. (Phone number)

If the oven needs replacing, Sears, Magic Chef, and Whirlpool offer something in this size range. (You need to measure the dimensions.)

You may need to "google" "O'Keefe & Merritt electric oven repair" plus your location. Electrolux's service department might provide a contact.

Your oven needs to be hard wired to a junction box. No plugs on a oven that pulls 30 or more amps 220v Read your install book that came with the oven.

Cannot remove bottom oven element from wires

Most elements are mounted to the back of the baking chamber from the outside and held in place with brackets that are screwed in place. Turn the BREAKER off, & after taking the back off you should find the wires are wire nutted together.

Wiring a frigidare 30 " double oven

I think the issue you are dealing with is the NEC. National Electric Code. Most callouts for conductors are in reference to your home wiring. Due to voltage drop and heat the NEC always errs on the side of safety. Most structure wiring is covered so you never want issues of heat in conductors. The wires on your oven are only several feet in length and I am sure are sized properly from the manufacturer for their intended purpose.

Frigidaire model number FGF356MXAWR, Serial #VF34511587 oven

it is probably the bake ignitor needs replaced. the only way to check it is with an amp meter. however, this is a part that does fail alot, and you can buy one for pretty cheap. it is located mounted on the bake burner by 2 screws. and it only involves splicing 2 wires, (the wire nuts you need should come with the new ignitor)
