I am not familiar with any error code referencing "LP". Could you be seeing "LF"?
Below are the error codes listed for your washer:

  • "LF" (Long Fill) Inlet hoses are kinked or clogged or water valve screens are not clear. (Solution: Straighten inlet hoses or clear screens of any foreign material.)
  • "LD" (Long Drain) Drain hose is kinked or clogged. (Solution: Straighten or unclog hose.)
  • "FF" (Fill Failure) Problem with water level sensing system. (Solution: Call for service.)
  • "OL" (Open Lid) Lid Is open during drain or spin. (Solution: Close lid.)
  • "PF" (Power Failure) Power to washer went off during cycle. (Solution: Press any pad to clear the display. Restart the washer from the beginning of the cycle.)

Kenmore type 111-05 hums on agitate

Humming is the classic symptom of a Start/Run Capacitor that has failed. It gives the motor a jolt to get it going.

Just a little puzzled why spin works though :>/

Admiral washer won't agitate or spin

The low humming sound is indicative that the start / run capacitor has failed. It give the motor an electrical jolt to get it going. Call for service and tell them the story.

Troubeshooting Roper Washing machine

Humming is normally indicative of a failed Start/Run Capacitor, but the fact you get nothing from it, leads me to believe it is a control board issue as well. Due the cost, call for Service so that you get the correct diagnosis.

Ref Kenmore 11020902991 fills then does nothing but hums. No agitation drain rinse spin. Nothing. Pump not clogged and coupler intact.

indicates 2 possible faults
no agitation . spinning- indicates a problem start / run capacitor for the motor ( hum )
drain is a separate motor and will not run until drain is activated
and that comes back to the second possible fault
problem program board not progressing to wash cycle
the hum could be a water control solenoid
call a technician for a proper diagnosis

Stopped during cycle. will not spin or agitate and makes a humming noise

The humming noise may indicate a worn capacitor on the motor.

When press to start only humming

humming usually indicates that the motor is receiving power but there is something physical that is not letting it move could be something as simple as the washer being too full to the bearings have gone out in the motor/agitator

The washer will fill up with water but it wont start washing or drain or spin you hear a humming noise then everything stops. Then in about 5 mins it will hum again then stop again

If the washer will not agitate, spin or drain it's a motor problem, capacitor or a broken motor coupler. It's either a loose wire connection on the start circuit or failed contact in the timer. When you say that the motor hums during spin, that would indicate that the motor has run voltage, but it has no start voltage. It needs both start and run voltage in order to get the motor started and running. The start voltage gets the motor started, and once started all it needs is run voltage to keep it running. The only difference between agitate and spin is that the polarity is reversed in order to start the motor in the opposite direction. The reversal of the polarity is controlled by timer contacts 7 and 14.

Most likely it's a timer or loose wire connection.

Why won't the Kenmore top loading washing machine agitate?

There are two types of Kenmore top loading washing machines. The direct drive models and the belt drive models. Direct drive models do not have a back access panel and the water inlet valve is located on the left side viewed from the rear while belt drive models do have back access panel and the water inlet valve is located on the right side viewed from the rear.

The most common problem causing a top loading machine not to agitate, particularly when the motor seems running, is a broken motor coupler for direct drive models and a broken or worn out drive belt for belt drive models.

The best way to exactly determine the cause is to access the drive motor. Open the back access panel for belt drive models and check the drive belt. Check the drive motor if it is running, humming or stuck.

Please indicate the model number of the washing machine if it is a direct drive model for the procedure in accessing drive motor.

Hi I have a sears washer model number 110.28902790. I won't agitate or spin. I tried it without clothes and the agitator barely moves and there is a humming sound. Any clues? Thanks Bob

something like that usually indicated a motor coupling. i've installed hundered's in the past, but the machine will usually give a clicking sound when trying to spin or agitate.
