2010 Ml350 electronic ignition module failures and repair tips

After inserting fob no dash lights, no start, after 5-10 times cranks and works normaly. Often both ofthe key fobs are not detected (no warning on the cluster , but nothing happens) in socket. sometimes starts with dashlights normally. I was told that it may be ignition module failure. What may have failed and How to fix it.

SOURCE: Starter motor not turning over when key is turned

Have a mechanic look but it sounds like the bendix which spins the starter is bad, usually if bad exactly what you are describing. When you try to start it engages and in a lot of cases if just a click and then will work at other times it is the problem---If the starter has been there for a while replace it and the bendix which almost always come as a unit.

08 chevy malibu wont crank or turn over, all lights are working, only display says service esc, theres no spark, can hear fuel pump working, killed the battery trying to do the passlock thing. Anyone??

Start with the basic's , battery ,connection's , battery cables etc... are they all good ? Voltage drop test main battery cables .

Does anyone know what the deal is?????? Without testing no one could have a clue . Does a scan tool communicate with all the modules on the vehicle ? Are any DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's stored in any module ? Your vehicle has at least 10 modules an a problem with any one could cause a no start . Your best bet , quit trying to play auto technician an take it to a qualified repair shop. You have no idea of the complexity of your vehicle

How do i check for RPM signal on the dash with out using a scan tool?

the tachometer works from the pulse generated for the spark in the ECM or in the ignition control module
the meter is extremely unreliable at cranking speed so at best the needle may flicker at anything under 150 rpms cranking speed
no spark can be from
cam/crank position sensor problems
broken timing belt / chain
ignition control module
ECM
immobilizer
run the fault codes to get an idea of the area of failure

You need an auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer to diagnose. Those cars are so complicated. It may be the immobilizer.

What is reason my 2005 Cadillac deville will not start-will not crank

Given the amount of electronics on your vehicle , control modules (computers ) serial data communication networks etc.... Me or anyone else on would only be guessing as to what the problem is . Starting with the basics to find a cause is always the best ! Checking for diagnostic trouble codes should always be the first step !
Reading how the systems work is always a good idea too . Especially for someone who has no idea how this vehicle works .

When you turn the key in the ignition low voltage inputs are sent to the module incharge the PMM - power mode master ! In you vehicles case it's the (DIM) dash integration module !
Table 1: 4-Wire Ignition Switch Table
Power to many of this vehicle's circuits are controlled by the module that is designated the Power Mode Master (PMM). This vehicle's PMM is the Dash Integration Module (DIM). The PMM controls which power mode (Run, Accessory, Crank, Retained Accessory Power, or Off) is active. In this vehicle the Rear Integration Module (RIM) assist the DIM in controlling the RAP power mode.

On vehicles that have several control modules connected by serial data circuits, one module is the power mode master (PMM). On this vehicle the PMM is the dash integration module (DIM). The PMM receives 4 signals from the ignition switch.
To determine the correct power mode the PMM uses the following circuits:
• Accessory voltage
• Ignition 1 voltage
• Ignition 3 voltage
• Off/Run/Crank voltage

Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop .

Corvette Troubleshooting .My c6 wont start. I get in with the key fob and all the light on dash light up like its ready to go and when I hit the start button everything on the dash just shuts down for...

Do you know anything about automotive electronic's ,serial data communication's between control module's ?
Circuit Description
When the ignition mode switch is placed in the START position, a discrete input is sent to the body control module (BCM) notifying it that engine start has been requested. The BCM then verifies that the brake pedal has been depressed with a discrete input from the brake pedal position sensor and that the key fob, with the correct code, is in the vehicle. After this information has been verified the BCM grounds the control side of the RUN/CRANK relay closing the switch side of it and allowing battery positive voltage to flow from the BATT 3 fuse through the RUN/CRANK relay switch, engine control module (ECM) fuse to the battery positive voltage side of the CRANK relay coil. The BCM also sends a high speed GMLAN message to the ECM requesting engine start. The ECM will then verify that the internal mode switch (IMS) is in Park / Neutral or the clutch pedal is fully depressed. After this has been verified the ECM then supplies 12 volts to the control circuit of the CRANK relay closing the CRANK relay switch circuit and allowing battery positive voltage to flow through the STARTER fuse, the CRANK relay switch to the S-terminal of the starter solenoid cranking the engine. Ground is supplied through the engine block.

Car will not run. push button light is green. car acts like it hits (starter engages and cranks and cuts off). Car has gas(put 2 gallons in to make sure gage is good. Battery is good.I Even tried to...

The 2006 has an engine imobiliser in the ignition and micro chip in the key fob. There could be a low battery in your key fob. Take your spare key or your good key and hold it right beside the push button when cranking. See if that allows the engine to fire and remain on. If so replace the battery inside the fob. You can do this by pulling the glove box (silver) key from the end of the fob and inserting the tip of the key into its slot sideways to pop open the **** shell housing and expose the internal battery.
