My laptop fell a couple of days ago and since then there's no sound.

Since the cause was the laptop falling to the ground i suppose something mved or broke. I managed to remove the cover but have no idea what to look for. Help is much appreciated!

If it works but you get no sound, you should thank almighty that miracle happened. Most laptops never "survive" a drop..
Normally laptops have audio integrated to motherboard, so there is nothing servicable for ordinary users.
Guess your solution might be to use an external USB audio card.
Your internal speakers won't work buy you'll be able to listen through extenal speakers or a headphone

If something fell into the defroster vent it could easily fall into the blower fan.I would tell the glass shop.

My guess would be the backlight. The inverter can easily survie the fall. If the Lid Switch there won't an image.

I have a Panasonic Toughbook CF-51. It fell off

i repair laptop every day and i have never seen and inverter board shut down the computer.in less it was total shorted. it sounds more like the fall my have damaged the hard drive. if a the drive wont spin it will cause the laptop to power down cause the little motor will over heat in a matter of seconds.if the laptop was on when it fell then its more than lickly the drive.
