Can I install Freon?

Runs and you can feel the pump run. Don't cool, like my other one.

Kenmore dehumidifer not working. odel251.50501010

I would suspect the cooling coils have leaked the freon and aren't cooling enough to condense the humidity into water. These units aren't really made to repair unless it's a switch or humidity sensor. The cost to have the leak fixed and freon reloaded would exceed just buying a new unit.

Runs but doesn't work (no water accumulates)

It sounds like what you hear working is the fan. The unit also has a compressor; if the compressor is bad or the freon is gone, the fan will run but the coils wont cool to remove moisture from the air.

The compressor on my Danby dehumidifier turns on for a few seconds, very weakly, and quickly cuts out. The fan and control panel are all working properly. The humidity is high enough for it to turn on...

Sounds like you've lost a lot of freon. Find the pump on your unit. Be careful, but after running it a while, touch the tube somewhere between the pump and cooling coils. If it is not hot then you have lost fluid. What happens is under normal working conditions the compressor would compress the freon making it hot, which then gets cooled by the radiator coils. In your case, there isn't enough fluid to compress to make it hot. Unfortunately, you need to have it refilled by a repair shop. Try your local A/C or HVAC shop. Don't be surprised if they can't refill with freon as it's bad for the ozone and being phased out.

Unit runs but the coils dont get cold

The compressor should be cool near the bottom and hotter at the top. If it runs but the coil is not cool, it probably lost its charge. Developed a leak and lost all the refrigerant.

Our humidifer runs but does not collect water.

Againg, if theres no moister in the air it wont remove water. if you feel the location for exmaple a basment feels cool when entering , then mosuet exist. dehumidifer will make any location warm when removing the coolnest in the air. within summer hot months it will collect more water than in the winter months. if it does feel cool and machine dont remove the water. call a repair person.

Dehumidifier runs but does not collect water

you must also clean the fins on the front. remove the plastic case and use compressed air or coil cleaner to clean out the dust and dirt on the condenser coils. if there is not enough air flow, the freon will not cool enough.

Delonghi de400p dehumidifier does not work

Dandy dehumidifier

attempt to feel the metal fins on the back of the unit. If they do not feel cool, then unit is either out of freon or compressor has failed or compressor is not running. If fins are cool, then insufficient air flow through unit -check fan- or room has very low humidity and humidistat is defective; not shutting down compressor.
