put a 2gb blank sd card in a computer that accepts sd cards. transmit the map from the cd directly to the blank card. Then put the new map into the C220 and reboot by holding the "ON" button down until it reboots.
goto main menu, click address, on the upper right button click change state...and select the new state..make sure that you have the SD card inserted for internal memory contains only 4 states, while SD card has 46 states. Thank you.
Try this : Open your device ( it have 5 screws). Inside next to the sd card reader are two metallic sponges. Take them off ( they are glued on some electronic parts and it's shorting the circuits)
I would thnik you could download the US maps from a US cd that came with their unit to an SD card.
The C220 for the US comes with 4 states on the GPS and the rest on an SD card that is in the side of the unit
I downloaded the 46 maps form my cd to a 1GB SD card that I put in a sot on my computer.
Mio wants people to know, especially the folks who recently bought the Mio C220, that you need to put the SD card in the unit for it to work. The Mio C220 has the maps on the SD Card, and it seems that not everyone knows to put the SD card in the unit before firing it up. No SD card means no working GPS.
Mio Says: 1. Before you power on your C220, insert the SD Card firmly into the slot on the right side of the device 2. Once the SD card has been inserted into the device, power on your C220 by pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds.

Unfortunately, Pocket PC devices with Windows Mobile 2003 OS do not support High Capacity SD (SDHC standard) cards.
However, some companies have created standard SD cards (Not SDHC) with capacities up to 4GB. These, sometimes, not always, work.
I would recommend you to purchase SD cards up to 2GB in size only which is the maximum size the SD standard has defined. If you would like to try the max capacity you can get, you can try some "SD standard extended, but not SDHC" SD cards up to 4GB. If you would like brand names, I could recommend you a few..
