Some cameras have a limit to the amount of memory it can have you may just be exceding the limit. try using a smaller card.

I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC FX30. Why aren't there SD memory cards in 4gb or higher? Can I substitute any of the other SDHC cards?

There are no SD memory cards 4GB or larger because the Secure Digital standard limits card capacities to 2GB. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work in the DMC-FZ30. You will need to stay with SD cards 2GB and smaller.

I bought a SDHC 4GB card and introduced in the camera. When turn on, came the message "memory error". What should I do?

Check your instructions, is a 4GB SDHC card compatible with your camera.

if you don't have a manual, just google "panasonic lumix dmc-fx01 manual" several options will appear.

Page 16 deals with card compatibility, it states that the maximum you can use is a 2GB Sd card, no mention of SDHC.

Panasonic DMC--LZ2 gives me ''memory card error'' message if i put a SanDisk SDHC 4GB card in.

The DMC-LZ2 is specified to work with SD cards, not SDHC cards. While SDHC cards are physically compatible with SD cards, they will not work in SD devices. SD cards will work in SDHC devices, but that doesn't help you any here.

It's a hardware incompatibility. No firmware update can get around it.

The camera accepts a memory card of 256 MB but rejects a new memory card of 4 GB, initially I thought it was a card problem so exchanged the card for a new one of the same capacity but still the same...

Your camera can only use standard SD cards up to 2GB capacity, and even then they must be formatted to FAT16 and not the usual FAT32 used on most pcs these days. Standard SD cards actually go up to 4GB and your camera would accept those with a suitable firmware update but Panasonic never released one and they certainly no longer support the FX8.

Most 4GB SD cards are actually SDHC cards, and your camera cannot handle these as it lacks the internal hardware to do so.

You'll need to stick to a standard SD card of 2GB maximum capacity: don't worry about the FAT16/FAT32 thing as your camera will correctly format the card when you first use it. Carrying 2 x 2GB cards is more reliable than carrying 1 x 4GB card anyway as you always have a spare if one of them fails.

I hope that you appreciate my answer and I ask in return only that you take a moment to rate my answer.

Message: Memory Card Error - Memory Card Parameter Error on 4gb SDHC card

I recently bought a DMC-TZ3 and have been researching memory cards. Several sites sell cards with the camera and list the card type. I would suggest buying one of these cards. Any cards larger than 2gb must be SDHC type SD cards. There appear to different types of SDHC cards, 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0. Check out Wikipedia.org for a description. 2.0 cards are not compatable for devices developed prior to 2.0 so that may be the reason for the camera problem. So far I haven't seen anything that states what type SDHC card the camera requires. I found a computer memory site that that sells memory that they say will work. There may be others.

Unlimited consecutive shooting function

This functionality allows unlimited consecutive shooting up to the capacity of the SD Memory Card in the camera—ideal for capturing fast-moving objects in high resolution. The number of shots may vary depending on memory card size, picture size, and compression.
