Go into settings and turn on wi fi if it has wi fi. check aeroplane mode is off. Know WEP or WPA encryption key for Wi FI also if security being used on Wi Fi system.

If the laptop was able to detect and connect to a wireless signal and the Iconia won't you can check the warranty of the Iconia and call acer and they will be able to replace the unit. This is a common issue with Iconia that some of the device has a hardware wifi defect. You can also refer to the link below and see what happen with their Iconia and was able to talk to acer for a replacement.
