Our player wasn't working so we changed the 2 belts. Everything seemed fixed but now the CD doesn't play. Carousel spins and it picks up the disc but then disc doesn't spin. After a few seconds, the player ejects the CD and loads the next CD but same thing, it's doesn't play/spin.

The C601 will not spin up the disc unless one is detected. If the optics are bad and do not realize that the disc is there...
Try cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that does not resolve the problem, the optics are bad. The optics in this unit are KSS-240 (I think). This part costs about $30-$40 depending upon where you get it. You can try to replace it or have a shop replace it for you. Add in the local labor rate for the total repair cost. This is a relatively simple repair. I have done 100s. It usually takes about 45 minutes plus the testing time.

Laser might not be faulty but just a dirty lens/ rail assembly.
If thou darest open the thing, clean the lens ( GENTLY) with a swab of glass lens cleaner. Clean the chrome runners for the optics assby with a swab lcaed with WD40 or silicone.

As far as I know the CD player for a machine of that age was a CDM 12. Your diagnosis is right but the same symptom can be caused by the control pcb underneath the cd player (you can see the led display to the right of the player. That's the control pcb). But generally it is the cd player itself.
However, you should also know that a similar thing happens when the laser eye is dirty from dust. But it doesn't sound like that to me. If it is dust the cd spins properly...stops....spins again....and then gets put back. If it spins as if it is having problems spinning it is usually the laser unit.
It's sensitive to static so touch any part of the metal of the jukebox that is definitely shiney metal to discharge yourself. To remove it you undo the four posi screws at each corner of the oblong unit. It's about the size of a large pack of cigarettes. Lift it up about an inch and you will see three plugs going into the sides. One on one side and two on the other. They just pull off with a bit of wiggling. (make a note where they go). While you are there take note that there are two loose metal spacers that the unit sits on, on the far two corners where the screws came out. They can easily get knocked off when you lift up the unit.
Transfer the black metal bracket piece on the top, to the other unit .....it's just two screws. And replace in the reverse order.
Make sure when you put the new unit back that you have the two metal spacers in place or it wont sit down correctly.
Have fun.

I've just had a look at the link you posted. That's not the right unit. Electronically it is but not the base it is attached to is not for a Wurlitzer unit. It's a rock-ola (I think). If you are in the Uk contact Sound Sense Electronics. They will sort it out for you.
