How to play video clip on my computer

I downloaded a video clip to my computer and I tried to open with Windows Media Player, but it won't play it. Any suggestion?

How to play wmv files
Windows Media Video, or WMV files, is a type of video that can be played on your computer and portable media players. In the past, computer users have been known to have difficulties opening these files due to a flaw in Windows Media Player or the WMV file. These issues have since been resolved with the newer versions of Windows Media Player and other similar media players. WMV files should now open and play with ease.

Begin by downloading the latest version of Windows Media Player (see link in Below). http://www.filewin.net/Windows-Media-Player/download/?p=AU-DNM Windows Media Player is the default player for Windows Media Video files. If you have just purchased a new computer, the computer probably already has the latest version of the program. Right click on the WMV file you want to play. Select "Open With." Several different programs will appear in a small box. Choose "Windows Media Player." Windows Media Player will then open on your computer. Wait for the WMV file to load. When it does, a message may appear in Windows Media Player informing you that the WMV file is missing an extension. Click "Yes" and Windows Media Player will still attempt to load the file. Everio movie editing
First check sound settings on control panel, ensure volume is not at minimum and computer audio is not muted. Test playing a CD.

this is usually due to Media Player or whatever player you use on your pc, not having the right codecs to decompress sound from camera file.

Usually you sort it out upgrading media player, you can download update from links below.

Try to download VLC-mediaplayer from:Videolan.org and try with this program. and/or:
i allways use Mediaplayer Classic http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/ this works really well for me
and plays ALL Media. also download and install FFDSHOW: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/ffdshow.htm (this is the codec for media files)

I've a movie in Avi format when i open it plays just for 16 seconds with "codec error: use windows media player Aborting video redirecting to microsoft codec download page" on the screen....
sounds funny anyway i know when i want to watch a movie thats all i want to do. dont want to be download any software or anything... anyway please download vlc player ( http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ ) this will play almost anything u throw at it...it just works period. it sounds like a virus but i would need some more info make sure ur antivirus software is up to date and please run windows update and also make sure all third party applications are up to date.

You need the Adobe Flash Codec for Windows Media Player. You can get it here.Alternatively, you can download and install VLC Media Player here. It plays everything without having muck about with installing various codecs.

I have downloaded the Youtube grabber file to My Documents and that was successful. But now that I am trying to play the clips on windows media player, it will not play. Says something about wrong file...
No usually media player will not play this type of file it will be a FLV type file format.
You can download some stand alone player to play the fiiles like this.

OR you can also download and install this package, this will allow Media PLayer to play the UTube files as well.
Both works well.

Unable to play video clips or avi file on media player 11
You need to play these files on VLC or in Media Player Classic. You can play almost any media file through them.
If you don't have any then you can download VLC media player from the following links:

If these players cant play your files then might not have given enough time to download your torrent or must have downloaded corrupt file.

Computer video problem
Hi there

This is something you can try.

Go into My Computer.

Right click one of the video clips.

Select "Open With", then "choose program".

Now you should get a list of programs you can play the file with, the best ones are at the top.

Select Windows Media Player or Real Player.

Click OK.

Now if the video clip works OK....

Repeat the procedure, but this time check the box below that says "always open this type of files with the selected program".

Problem Playing Windows Media Player Movie Clip on My E90
Suitable file format for your phone are 3gp, mp4, mpg, etc except wmv. WMV files cannot be opened by this model. If you really want to play it on you phone you must convert this file first. i suggest converting it into mp4 or 3gp. It the only way to play the video in your phone.
