Power Surge fried the TV, PS4, and cable TV, but the surge protector still works. The TV wont turn on, it doesn't have a stand by light. No visible burns on the boards. The fuse on the power supply is not completely white, then again I never seen those before. Any suggestions?
Fault to the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be on a separate board, or on the part of its main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Testimonial: "Thank you The Knight, that was one of my concerns, the cost of parts vs the board. I order a new power supply from shopjimmy.com. I will update with the repair once I received the board and get it installed. Thanks again."
After replacing the power board I can hear the board making a clicking noise when I plug the power cable. I push the power button but nothing happens my guess I need to replace the main video card.
I was able to fix the TV by purchasing the power board and the video board. I paid for both $170.00. Thanks for all the help!

Simple replace the power supply n regulator boards or look get a tech to replace the power transistors in the smps switch mode power supply board in this case they r MOSFETs transistors plus the cloudy fuse. or on a riskier note start with the fuse but make sure is of the exact amperage e.g 13amps read it on the fuse cylinder but detach the main board from the power board less u risk more damage then take a digital multitester n check all the output voltages e.g 5±v 12v 90v attach the black lead of tester to the metal.part of a heatsink on the board

Good day sir/maam, chances are, yes or no, yes, the surge do has the ability to damage your TV, but no, modern TVs are autovolt (it can work from 90v-240v) so check the manual or back panel to confirm. The most deadly part of the surge is it can hit more than 500v at a split of a second, damaging your TV's switching power supply. The TV's power supply is bad. it cannot produce the proper voltage to power your TV. thats why its on standby. Bring it to your dealer for proper advice on the status of your TV.

This tends to be the result of an electrolytic capacitor somewhere, either on the main board or the power supply board bursting due to overheating. In this case you can pull off the back paneling and review the boards over to make sure all the capacitors are in excellent condition. After identifying a bad capacitor you can buy one from an electronics store in the area or a reputable online source. To replace it this will require soldering. Look for a capacitor with the same uF, the voltage can be the same or higher. Make sure all the power is out of the system before servicing, also make sure to note capacitor polarity observing the negative indicator line on the side. If your not sure this can be done at home I would recommend taking it in to a servicing shop. If you do not know what a capacitor looks like do a google image seatch for both examples of a good and bad copacitor. I honestly hope it's something much simpler, I hope this helped and good luck.

Voltage checking and caps inspection will be the first thing to do.
If you can post the pictures, that will help a lot. Look at the inverter board to see if you are getting 12~18vdc feeding it, also look for caps with leaking/bulging top.

Usually the blinking indicates a power section problem. That could have been from a power surge. Thats a shop job to fix. Since its out of warrenty you need to get an estimate first. Repair costs can be more than a new tv. Last one I saw was $450ish. If you have any local tv repair shops talk to them , then talk to sharp and get contact info for the repair depot and talk to them. Get estimates from all, then compare that to a new tv cost and you will know which way is best for you to go.
Unless you spent almost as much on the surge supressor as the tv they are only actually meant to protect the wiring in the house. The do not react fast enough to actually stop a power surge. They just cut off a short circuit problem so the house wiring doesn't overheat and burn the house down.
SOURCE: Spot of bad weather here,
90% to 95% ur tv have a dead power supply board only.5% ur tv could have both dead boards the tv power supply board and the main tv Tuner signal board too.The tv power supply board. That the board, where the power a/c cord plug into it.The tv main Tuner signal board, that the board where all the exstented devices and the tv incomming broadcasting signal cable wire plug into it.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement first. The tv problems should be fixed. If not than the main tv Tuner signal board is dead too.Must be replaced also.
