You can clean the lens with a small amount of windex and put a little oil like 3 and 1 oil on the spindle motor shaft and on the sled rails. Good luck !

DVD movies usually send out a digital signal, like dolby digital, and this requires a matching decoder in your receiver in order to hear anything. Regular CDs don't use dolby digital, usually. Check you receiver to make sure it can decode the digital signal, and check your optical or digital coaxial cable.

or other physical damage. Try the CD in another player. If it still
won’t play, there may be a problem with the disc
Reset the system by disconnecting the power cord from the wall for one minute, then plug the system back in
try to play a song from original cds.
maybe you brunt it in mp3 file, or its a different format. try to burn your song to cd-r.
if still, try to use nero to burner..
if it wont play your original cds and burnt cds,then the optical lens or the board is broken.
