Water is clear but chlorine and copper still low, what I need to do?

The salt generator only works when the pool pump is running. If you want a higher chlorine level, run the pump longer. Also, to keep your chlorine in the pool, be sure to adjust the stabilizer level. (25 ppm for salt systems). As for copper, this level should be 0 at all times

I have added salt due to constant low salt warning. I have been brushing and running pump. It appears to be on a 6 hr cycle as 06 shows up when turned on. It also goes into sleep mode. Test strips show...

Way too high on the salt.. about 5000 to 7000 ppm. You should be around 2000 to 3000 ppm or 5.6 to 6.6... I had the same issue with my system and it's always the cell..Look inside the cell and if you can see white stuff inside, it needs to to be cleaned... The manual states to soak with vinegar for 6hrs.. I soak mine for 24, flush and soak again for 6hrs and flush again.. Comes our clean.. and the low salt alarm goes away until the next time the cell gets dirty with the white buildup... You can add an additive made by hth called "Cell Saver"..Prolongs the cleaning cycle... After you clean the cell and your filter, change your chlorinator cycle to 10 hrs with your pump to run 11 to12 until the pool clears and then lower to maintain the proper chlorine level.. Good luck and hopes this works for you.....

I have a 8500 gallon Intex pool (12x24) with a saltwater system. My pool was looking a little cloudy and the Ph was high. I added a small amount Malic Acid yesterday and now my pool is green today. Any...

First thing to do with a new set up is remove the metal. The green is very likely copper in the water. Use a sequestering agent to remove the metal. Follow the directions on the bottle.

Second, establish the alkalinity at any number between 80 and 120 with 100 being the goal. Use Bicarb of Soda to increase or Muratic Acid to reduce.

When you have alkalinity of 100, try to get the pH at any number between 7.2 and 7.8 with 7.4 being the goal. Carb of soda to increase the pH and use Muratic acid to reduce. Move slow.

When the Alkalinity is at 100 and the pH is at 7.4 introduce Chlorine. The goal should be between 4 ppm and 10 ppm, since you are not an inspected pool. You should introduce Cyanuric Adic (AKA stabilizer) to a number between 50 and 80 ppm. Stabilizer will protect your chlorine, the chlorine you will be making from the salt in the water.

Next establish the salt level ata the point required by your system. I dont know what Intex requires in fact. I think it is a number between 2600 and 3400 - olease refer to your manufacturers instruction for this. Introduce the salt through a skimmer for best results. BTW, the water has to be hotter than 55 degrees F for your salt cell to make salt.

The Green could be algae - treat by super chlorinating your pool with liquid or powdered chlorine of your choice. I suggest at least 20 ppm.

Cloudiness is undisolved solids. Best way to clear this is by running the filter. The longer you run the filter, the cleaner will be the water. You can use a product called Super Blue which will aid in clearing the solids from the water. If you are impatient, you can use a flocking agent in the filter. I dont think you relly need it, however.

Tell me more about your pool is it rectangular at 12 X 24 (how deep) or is it 12 feet round 24 inches deep. I was trying to calculate the actual gallons. Provide the info and I will get the gallons though you claimit is 8500.

Once a week I've been adding salt (80 lbs) to my pool and again get low salt code (91)....it has been very unusually hot (HTX 110) is this causing the problem and I need to add more?

1st... Check your salt level consentration.. If okay... 2nd, Check you electrolytic cell, may be plugged with white flaky calcium stuff. The white calcium build-up on the cells will cause a low salt alam.

My pool is cloudy I have a 16'x48" the ph level is 8.0 the copper test is 0 the free chlorine[ppm] 0.2the alkalinity is right what should i do

How long has it been since you cleaned the cartridge in the filter? If it's been a while, I'd recommend cleaning it thoroughly with a filter cleaner (degreaser). This will help to filter out any small particles that can cause cloudiness. I'd also recommend that you increase the salt production on your salt system. The normal range for chlorine is 1-3 ppm. You're too low at 0.2. If all of these things are done and the pool is still cloudy, I would add a clarifier. FYI: too much is not better when adding clarifier!

I Have a Easy Set Pool 15X36, And a Salt Water Generator How much Salt do I add for the first Time?

The Compupool CPSC/CPA Series is recommended to run at a salt concentration of 3500 ppm. If you are not installing a Compupool unit, check your manufacturer's instructions for their recommended level of concentration . Use a salt that is at least 99.8% pure NaCl. The preferred salt is an evaporated, granulated, food quality, NON-iodized salt. Avoid using salt with anti-caking agents like sodium ferrocyanide, also known as yellow YPS (prussiate of soda. These cause some discoloration of fittings and pool surface finishes. DO NOT use calcium chloride.

Using a salt water test strip, measure the current salt level of your pool. For the Compupool generators, ideal is 3500 ppm. If the level is low, determine the number of gallons in your pool and add salt according to the Salt Table. For example, if your pool has 15,000 gals of water and your current salt level is 2500, you need to add 125 lbs of salt.

I balance it to 7 with solution. Then check my water and it says its 7.22 but when i check with the good ol drops its about 6.5 or 6.6 and sometime it is even way off more. and have to adjust it everytime...

Is this a automatic pH meter?

The only reliable way to measure your pH is by using a test kit. The automatic devices must be adjusted and set at least as often as the manufacturer recommends.

Your pH should be between 7.2 and 7.6. Your Alk should be at 100 (between 80 and 120) Get the Alk right before you try to get the pH at 7.2 or 7.4. These changes you are making should be measured over a number of days not a number of minutes, by the way. Alk 'buffers' pH and prevents pH 'bounce'.

Does your filter system run 24/7? Point of interest, most commercial pools should have a 8 hour turn over rate and run 24 hours a day for best results. Spa's should turn over on a 2 hour basis.

I don't know where you are writing from, the acceptible pH in the USA, generally, is 7.0 to 7.8. 7.0, while not really bad, is more acid than most swimmers can enjoy.

Other considerations: Your calcium should be around 250/300 ppm. Outside pool? Cyanuric Acid should be around 70 - 80 ppm. CL should be around 4 ppm. If you are using Bromine, the Br number is 2 X the CL number. By the way, Bromine is about 2 X more expensive than CL. Might you be using salt and making your CL? Salt should be 3200 to 3400 ppm and you should monitor your CL and adjust daily to get your 2 to 4 PPM cl. You MUST protect this CL with Cyanuric Acid.

I hope you find this information helpful. The courtesy of a positive vote will be appreciated.
