Go to Dell support and download the latest BIOS revision. When you flash the bios it should wipe out the password. The second option is not as appealing.... open up the laptop and remove the CMOS battery for 30 seconds. This is much easier on a desktop, but a proven solution if there is no other way.

Each manufacturer uses a backdoor password for this exact reason. for Dell - it is Dell. It may work, but if not try to remove the CMOS battery for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Turn
the computer upside-down and to help prevent damage to the system board,
remove the main battery before working inside the computer. Remove the main battery: Slide the battery-bay latch release on the bottom of the
computer and then remove the battery from the battery
bay. Remove the CMOS battery- loosen the captive screw on the RAM cover, and
then remove the cover. Use a plastic scribe to slide into the guide on the side
of the coin-cell battery compartment, and lift the battery out.
When you replace the battery, insert it at a
30-degree angle under the clip with the positive (identified by a plus [+]
symbol) side up, and then push it into place.
You BIOS password should now be reset.
