1st check the easy possible cause, stain /dirt on slit/original glass CLEAN. 2nd check drum for scratch causing line on copy and the transfer belt for damage.

Dear If you have facing the problem while you made copy using ADF.then check th adf glass for scrathes replace it. If you have the problem while copy on platen glass then check lines on platen glass (rare case). Check cis for dust. Thanks.
Make sure the ink cartridge is full or new. Get to the "Maintenance" page and try an alinement. (The ink dries and will clog the jets if not used often enough.)
Check out this link for Stylus drivers for your printer. What I have found is that you can always go down with printer model for updating drivers but not up. Just copy and paste into your browser.
Send a print from your PC or print out the Counter list from User tools/counter button.
Try printing one colour at a time - Black, Cyan, Yellow or Magenta.
If when printing, there is no line across the pages, so you need to clean the optics mirrors and exposure glass.
If the line appears in both 1 and 2 mentioned above, you have the fuser roller or drum damaged.
If the line appears in all colour prints, check the fuser or transfer belt.
If it happens only with one particular colour, check that drum unit.
