Recently my Dyson is extremely hard to push forward. When I change the setting to floor, it leaves a white scuff mark. What do I need to do?

SOURCE: Dyson suddenly hard to push on carpet

I know this sounds silly, but it works. Turn it over and wipe all the black residue off the bottom of it (off the plastic on the bottom that rubs on the carpet as you push and pull it). I thought my husband was out of his mind when he told me that was the solution, but it really works.

SOURCE: dyson - can't push the vacuum

try to see if the carpet setting is to carpet. i know this machine says that its a life time belt, but i would check this just in case. best way to tell if it's working is to lay the machine on its belly with the brushes pointing up and turn on the machine to see if the brushes are turning. (be careful not to put your face directly in front, just in case something is lodged in the brush and flies out )

This is over a year too late, but perhaps this will help other people in your situation. Here is how the switch assembly should go together:

Check the axles of the wheels for debris accumulation. Also, make sure the height is set for the type of carpet that you have. Try pushing the machine on a bare floor--is it hard to move there also? Hope this helps!

I can't push my Dyson Dc33 on my new carpet..it works backwards ok but not pushing forward?

Hi Fran, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC33 is engineered to work effectively on both hard and carpeted flooring. The cleaner head is engineered to adjust automatically for different floor types and carpet piles. You can also turn off the brush bar for hard floors and delicate rugs, using the brush control on the cleaner head.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty pushing your machine forward on this particular type of new carpeting. If your DC33 worked effectively before the new carpeting was fitted, it doesn't sound like there's an issue with the vacuum itself. However, we'd appreciate the opportunity to take some further details about the issue, and may be able to suggest a resolution. You may also want to consider contacting the carpeting manufacturer directly, as they should be able to recommend the best way of caring for this specific carpeting.

When you have your DC33 easily to hand, please give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

Self adjusting head plate not adjusting to hard floor

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty pushing your DC41 on hard flooring. However I'm confident I can help you resolve this - if you can email me directly at [email protected], I'll be in touch as soon as possible to take some further details. If you have the facility to attach a clear photo of the underside of your vacuum's cleaner head to your email, that would also be very useful to me.

I'll look forward to hearing from you.

Do the rear drive wheels have the rubber on them or are they worn off and it is just plastic now.
